Exhaust Cutout thoughts

anyone has any thoughts on exhaust cutouts? i have a ultimate racing single exit exhaust with out mini muffler or resonator right. it sounds awesome but sometimes i feel like its too loud. My point here is i dont want to drive a beast all the time, sometimes its better in sleeper mode. I've read that electric motors on exhaust cutouts dont last too. Any thoughts on these things? Thinking about putting one one my stock exhaust and selling my UR catback.

Well a single catback is going to be louder than a dual cat back.
Do you have a test pipe too? A dual catback with high flow will quiet it down compared to what you have now.

QTP e cutouts are the popular ones, but they are like 300-400 bucks. The motor fails and you will need to replace it. My only question to add would be the tuning issue.
Do you have a tune for when the exhaust is open downpipe? And then use that tune when its closed?

Im not planning to put the cutout on the downpipe. i was gonna put it right before the stock muffler. not much to gain from doing that but sound, but thats all im after anyway really. i did drive around without a catback and it was way too loud in cabin. Everything was rattling it was so annoying.

If your not going to do it for performance and just for rice. I would suggest getting the manual one so that you don't need to waste money. I think the stock piping is 2.25 or 2.5".

Also, have you looked into that muffler mod by RRE? You get more sound and performance.

I am massively interested in putting a cutout on my RA as well. I found a forum on here where a guy did it utilizing a boost activated solenoid. I think it activated the cutout at 10 psi. But I haven't found anyone that's done this to an RA.. Or been able to answer my programing questions.

i don't have a ralliart but i do have a qtp cut out test pipe and stock exhaust. i use the same tune for both. its awesome being quite one minute and retarded loud the next. and the cutout is going strong a lil more then two years later.

I had a 3" QTP Electronic Cutout at the very end of my downpipe right before it bolted up to the cat. I had it for a period of 4+ years and it never broke once. I even was able to sell it for close to $150 on the forum here.

It was awesome to have one because no one would realize how it would get super loud then super quiet. Only thing I didn't like was it messed with the tune a bit when it was wide open and I wanted to get rid of that so I could stay on one tune all the time.

For loudness and cool sounding it was def. worth it. Performance - I'm not sure. But I did have a full 3" Turbo Back Exhaust. If you're comparing the cutout to stock exhaust you will prob. pick up more power.

I'm going to do it. I want the Turbo XS cat back. I'll have the cutout done when I put the exhaust on. I just love the way the XS rumbles and yet is pretty tame. But I want the noise of an open cutout when it's time to play!

I ran cutouts on my mustang and Camaro.. Never had any problems with them. Well, just cops...

There are ones that open when certain amount of boost is present.

I had a cutout once on a previous car (2006 Civic Si).

It sounded bad *** specially when the high cam (iVtec) profile gets into action.

But now I really wont bother on putting one on any of my present or future cars.

I guess I'm getting old, a cutout is too loud for me right now.
