Need help!!!!!!!!!!!!!urgent!!!

Last week I used for the first time the new Royal Purple oil. I drove about 500 miles than i decide to check the oil level. First thing I noticed was that the dipstick is not shiny anymore where the oil level was marked. Second thing was i noticed that the oil level was little higher than them the second mark about 6-7 mm. I decided to drain the oil. Is that normal ????? any help is appropriated.

It's about 1 quart from the bottom marker to the 2nd one.
If its above the 2nd marker it sounds like 1 quart too much oil.
I was never a fan of Royal Purple and used it only once.

Did you do the oil change yourself? How much fluid did you put in? Did you check the dipstick as you were filling?

I've never had to put in more than 5 quarts of fluid, usually around 4.5 or so. You never truly drain all of the fluid out, so you need to keep an eye on the oil level as you're filling. I usually put in 4 quarts and then start checking the dipstick every 1/4 bottle after that.

50,000 miles on mine. I used Royal Purple 5W30 since day one without a single issue. Always drained and let sit for a while to drain most of the oil out. I put in 5 quarts every time and no problems.

I think you just need to drain the oil a little longer when you do your oil change.
I've never had problems with the amount. Especially now, that I only buy the 5 quart jugs instead of quarts now...

Drain for 30 minute from drain plug and oil filter removed.
Fill the oil filter up with oil and install.
Poor all 5 quarts in the filler.
Start Car, turn off car and check level.
Dump old oil in empty 5 quart jug and see how much you drained...

I drained the oil yesterday. It was just shy of 5 and a half including what was in the filter. The scary thing is my dipstick. It looks like the oil dissolved a layer of metal off of it.

Given that I haven't looked at the dipstick in my old car in awhile...but, uh, I'm pretty sure that's how all the dipsticks look.
