The intercooler does have welded end tanks but it doesnt go as high as the radiator. The intercooler ends about three or four inches below the top of the radiator, if that makes any sense. Do you still think it is after market? I ask because I am trying to find all the aftermarket mods to make sure that my dealer will cover warranty repairs if necessary. Thanks a ton, everyone!

If you are worried about your warranty take it back to the dealer that sold it to you and ensure that they will play nice with the warranty work. Since they did sell you a modded car.

That intercooler has welded end tanks. It is not stock.

Stock intercoolers do not have welded end tanks. Stock end tanks are cast.

You are right, it definitely has welded end tanks. Someone told me that the aftermarket intercoolers would go to the top of the radiator. Is this not the case? The dealership agreed to put in writing that they will honor the remaining warranty. I just want to make sure all the mods at noted on that document. Thanks, Saul.

I can't speak of placement and mounting on the Ralliart because I don't know, but the intercooler is not stock.

it's definitely not stock Ralliart. As mentioned earlier, stock does not have welded end tanks. In addition to that, the stock Ralliart intercooler is completely below the crash beam.

okay. Dumb question, is there any way for me to identify what model or type of intercooler? it'd like to know for my own purposes, as I'd like to understand what I can expect from the car, but I wanttodocument everything with the dealer. Thanks for all the time.

I wouldn't freak out about the intercooler or pipes, most of us swap them out for the stock Evo X replacements anyway. Most are just concerned that you might be running an after market tune with or wothout the stock boost pill. getting the tactrix cable and evo scan software you can find out if your running the stock rom or not. the 2 threads i linked above will give you all the info on boost pills and tactrix /evoscan.
Most likely everything is fine its more for peice of mind.

And to be clear, what i meant was (as better stated above) that the stock IC does not go much above the crash beam. The Evo X (and other aftermarket ones) will be ~ twice that height (but maybe not 'all the way to the top of the radiator' like i said)...

Got it. I'm not worried and to be honest I am enjoying the mods. I test drove another 2010 ralliart and I noticed that it had less pickup. I just want to make sure that I document everything with the dealer so they honor the remaining warranty. Thanks, guys!

The dealer can't tell you what all is not OEM on your RA? Did they not disclose that info before you bought the car?

Mod Update

Well, I had a chance to pop some parts and measure the intercooler. You guys were right, it definitely isn't stock ralliart. It measures around 12" from top to bottom with welding on the end tanks. I think it may be the Ultimate Racing IC from pictures on the internet. Do you guys know if the aftermarket manufacturers put a stamp or identifier on the intercoolers (other than a stencil-which this one doesnt have)? I fee llike I'm beginning to understand my car better. Thanks, again!

Some do. Others do not. The ones that do have various methods for putting their branding on to the IC, and that method ranges from riveting a name/brand plate to the top to etching/engraving/stamping the info into the product. Unfortunately, there isn't a unified method for location or whether or not the manufacturer puts their brand on the product.
