Please help me identify mods to ralliart
Please help me identify mods to ralliart
I just bought a 2010 Lancer Ralliart Sportback. I am new to Mitsubishi, but believer the car has some performance mods. I believe the pipe that leads to the intercooler has been swapped out. If so, what performance difference would this cause? I have attached a picture of the engine bay. Any help or info is appreciated! Thanks!
You are correct Upper Intercooler Pipe was swapped. I think it's Depo. (Can someone confirm it?) Take a pictures of your intercooler and exhaust and post it. Also open the air filter box and see what's inside. Your diverter valve is stock, unfortunately.
Here are a few pictures. What's with the modification sticker? The part number appears to be 8631A235-OEM ACD ECU? Please breakdown everything above if possible. I literally know nothing! I need to learn these acronyms. What impact would these mods have on performance (generally)? I test drove two ralliarts and this one felt peppier. I ordered a K&n drop in. Last question. Would these mods void the remaining powertrain warranty? Thanks, all!
So far as i can tell - it is 'all good'.
The Active Center Differential (ACD) has it's own computer ('Engine Control Unit (ECU)) to manage the 'tarmac/snow/gravel' settings and conditions to control the AWD bias.
The 'hard pipes' replace a mushy OEM hose that expanded under full boost which helps with throttle response.
I can't really tell from the pix - but i 'think' you may still have the small/inefficient original intercooler - which is puzzling why the original owner would swap everything else BUT that... Does the intercooler extend up almost to the top of that bay or does it only extend just past where the lower grill opening is? If it is the orignal intercooler - surf the FS section and get the EVO X used one
Because the orginal owner did do mods - i would next get a boostpill and the Cobb Access port to reflash the computer to GST Basemap to ensure it has a 'safe' and proper tune.
Did you know... Thule[tm] makes a roof rack which plugs into the roof (under those black plastic 'caps' that slide forward and off)?

You can always tell the engine bay have been tampered with when the airduct plastic screws are missing and the strut bar is dull in the center from dirt hands/ oil.
Yeah that looks like a depo upper intercooler pipe set. At least they last owner saved you a $100 in upgrades. Purchasing a tactrix openport 2 will allow you to read your cars Rom or replace it with the GST base map . Read the Ecu for dummies thread on steps for that.

Come on Veronica, you know better than that....this is WRONG info. You can't use a Cobb AccessPort to reflash the computer to the GST Basemap. If you want the GST basemaps what you'll need is a Tactrix Cable to perform the reflash. The Cobb AccessPort is used with either pre-made tunes from Cobb, or a tuning professional could tune your car and then save it on the AccessPort if you want to flash back and forth between the pro-tune and the stock tune.
Looks like from the pics you bought it from a Mitsu dealer. is this right?
If you are worried about your warranty take it back to the dealer that sold it to you and ensure that they will play nice with the warranty work. Since they did sell you a modded car.
That intercooler has welded end tanks. It is not stock.

I did buy it from a Mitsu dealer and will follow up. I am reading about the tactrix and GST basemap. In the real world, how do these reflashes impact MPG? Saul, I will try to get a better pic of the intercooler. Thanks for all the time, guys.
Don't be telling the dealer that you are planing to get basemaps!!!! Also asked them if there is record of transmission fluid and filter change (VERY IMPORTANT).

I stand corrected!
(i have a good friend who flashes the basemap to the ECU for me on occasion
