Yes...another Accessport question

I want to state up front that I have thoroughly read this and other forums on this topic!

I have a 2010 Ralliart with an upgraded UICP, drop-in K&N filter and upgraded intercooler. I would like to increase performance but I am not a gearhead. After doing a lot of reading I think the Cobb Accessport, although some what limited, is the right option for me.

I have been looking at used, unmarried v2 units. Here are the questions I couldn't find answers for (and yes I emailed Cobb and didn't get a response):

1. Is it worth paying extra to get a AP with a stage 0 AMS tune it?

2. What kind of fuel economy have people gotten with a Cobb Stage 1 tune?

3. I've read that you can use a stage 2 map without the stage 2 modifications for daily driving but not at the track (I don't race the car anyway). Is this true?

4. Is it worth waiting for the v3 AP?

Thanks, all. If anyone local answers I'll buy you a round

This is exactly the reason I WOULDN'T spend your hard earned money on an Accessport. Cobb's support and committment to the developement of this product is nothing less than terrible.

i have an AP for a 2010 RA with all the standard cobb stage 1 and 2 maps plus a stage 2 map with ams intake i'm going to be looking to get rid of in the near future

its good for if you intend to slowly swap parts along the lines of the mods required for each map

nothing against the unit but i'm putting a RAD lite on soon and most likely switching to opensource

don't use stage 2 map with out stage 2 mods...

Thanks for that input. How was your driveability and fuel economy with the ap?

You have hit the nail squarely on the head in your summary of Cobb.

They have done the bare minimum for the RA community and your money is best spent elsewhere.

I'm confused why spend monery on the ap when the tactrix cable costs less and ecuflash is free?

i've run the OTS stage 0, 1, 2 maps from cobb as well as the stage 2 + intake map i got when i bought my intake with no issues with driveability, milage has been constant 300kms in the city/6-650 highway from full tank to low fuel light coming on (which means theres still another 10-12L left in the tank)

this is true, but after talking with Eric at Cobb Plano who's in charge of mitsu development the issue there is they don't have a car to do testing on to make the calibrations to expand the map library with the depth the evo x has

even after i posted threads to the fact that they wanted test cars and would give discounts on parts and a free pro tune it turned out no one was willing to make the trip into the shop

Well originally i went AP cause the GST maps we have now didn't exist, if i recall they only recently in the last little while came out with the TBE map and the TBE + AEM intake maps.

but now since theres simliar options with the AP vs opensource it really just comes down to convienance with regards to flashing and logging... do you want a cell phone sized device to log/flash maps or do you want to be forced to have a computer

i really wish ecuflash/tactrix would make an android app just to flash between ROMs... i meant the torque app can log/read engine vitals and clear DTCs and thats just a $5 app, i'm sure its with in their scope to develope this

i'm switching over to open source because i'll be exceeding the cobb maps i've gotten for free and won't be needing to flash any further maps after my tune for my RAD lite

I live about 15 minutes from Cobb in Plano, if you can point me to that thread you posted about Eric looking for cars I will get a hold of him and he can use my RA.

With cobbs info stage 2 will have a change in filter along with turbo back exhaust. AMS stage 0 is a little confusing.

AMS wants you to buy a Cobb ap $500 pack it up with your ecu from your car. then ship it to them cost unknown, then after all of that they want you to pay them $995. don't sound too fun or cheap. i would rather spend that $995 on borla pipes oh how much i love them.

I got my directly from cobb. Loaded stage 1 and 91oct and economy. **** works awesome and I wouldn't go thru perrin or ams. Cobb makes tunes specific for ralliart.
