ecu flash problem, car will not start.

hi folks,

just did the 3.0 flash today, I have a Canadian 2009 ralliart, completely stock. When the flash was completed, done this many times with the previous flashes with no problems. but today once it was completed the car wouldn't start and now when I put the key in the ignition and turn the key to start everything flashes. the computer/dash, everything flashes on and off and I cant do anything. what do I have to do to fix this?

thanks!
brian

I haven't ever bricked my ecu but maybe someone who has can chime in? I think you might have to reset your ecu if u bricked it

Can you still communicate with the ecu using the tactrix? I would wait before trying until someone who knows more comes on but I think, sometimes, if you can still communicate you can exit tuning mode and reload last good ROM. BUT as I said it may be best to wait until someone with experience comes on.

i can communicate with the ecu but with the flickering it must turn off the ecu as well so after a second I get disconnected, its like the entire car is turning off and on over and over

Going out on a limb here but does it make a clicking sound too?

What is your battery voltage?

If flashed finished and ecru flash had it in exit programming state you should be fine. Check battery. Should never flash ecu with weak battery. Lets hope it's battery over bricked ecu

ok update:

I bought a brand new battery, the original now was down to 8V but wasn't sure if that was just from the battery wearing down of if it is actually damaged, I have had problems in the past so I bought a new one.

went through the "bricked ecu" procedure but not sure if that did anything because I think it may still be "bricked"

when I turn the key to the "on" position the engine fan turns on and stays on, the dash display goes through almost every alarm as they are triggered. the car does not flash off and on now, stays on constantly now.

when I connect ecuflash and the tactrix cable to the car the computer cannot read from the ecu nor can it upload a new program to the car.

not sure what to do now, will have to call dealer tomorrow to see what they say

What did the dealer say? How did you resolve the issue?

That sounds like the time I bricked mine, me and a couple buddies found a writer up I forget where, it explained how to hook the tactrix cable directly to the ECU (once removed) and we were able to bench flash it. I'll chime back if I can find that write up, unless the dealer says it's something else but that's exactly what mine did when it was bricked.
