SST oil Cooler

So I'm going to a track day on Monday and I have heard people often get the "slow down" warning in that kind of situation. Is an oil cooler the solution to delay or prevent that warning? I've never gotten it before so I don't know how quickly I will get that message. Has anybody installed one before and where did you locate it?

No, you would want a Tranny cooler(using supplemental airflow) rather than an oil cooler to avoid the "slow down" warning.

I believe most "track" cars have their fog lights removed. With the drivers side fog light removed, it allows a hell of a lot more air into the tranny cooler. Also, there is a company who has a fan system for the cooler to.

sorry I meant a transmission oil cooler. Any idea what company makes that fan. that would be much easier then adding a transmission fluid cooler.

Not off hand, sorry. I think if you did a search on here though, you'd come across the posts about it. Or google it. "ralliart/evo x transmission cooler fan". Something like that.

Is it over-heating on the track? Or in the paddock?

Fan can only help while car idling/stopped.

Once car moves - it is air flow through the cooler that does the work.

I would think you need a larger capacity cooler and a deeper trans oil pan for more capacity/pan cooling.

Thanks for the input guys. I went to the track and had no problems. The day is set up 30 min on and 30 min off the track ,but for those 30 min on I was going all out using the paddle shifters. I did take out the driver side fog light like mike594x recommended. So for future people searching for this topic I would just say hold off on a transmission cooler till you find out you need one.

This is what many of us are using (along with fog light removal) with much success without having to do a full cooler upgrade.

Shoot I have 100K+ miles on my Ralliart and haven't seen a slowdown message ever. I have just got the clutches upgraded since they were starting to slip badly but now I have the new found power with e85 and s-sport all seems great.
