Keeping oil temp under control

Normaly my Evo's oil temp stays around 85 degrees celsius but when I get to the track it goes over 120 degrees before I finish the first lap.

I'm using a ducted setrab cooler a notch bigger than oil OEM cooler.

I would be more comfortable with temps around 110 degrees on the track.

Any help / thoughts?

The only thing you changed was the oil cooler? No other mods on ducts, hoses, fans, etc?

Means your water temps were very high too. This is why having a water temp gauge is important. The stock gauge is mostly an "idiot light" it stays in the same spot over a wide range of temps.

I've tracked my car a few times on the stock radiator and stock oil cooler with no issues @450whp. I'm also using E85 so that helps alot.
Oil temp gets to 250-260*
A Ralliart 170* T stat is a good idea for open track use. The stock one opens at 180* but my car seemed to always run at 190+ Now its 170-180* for the most part.
I've used the 170* for a few years and the one downside I've found is the heater doesn't work that well. I'm in FL so thats not a big concern.

I'm also a fan of 20-50wt oil for hard track days on slicks.

I've also noticed that using the thicker 20-50wt oil (high zinc content, if possible) does keep the oil in the pan more. The catch can tends to fill up quicker when on a 5-30wt. Just an observation.
