Question - Evo X full engine swap into Ralliart?
After hours of forum and interwebs searching I continue to come up empty handed on this matter. Chances are, this is either too much of a PITA or not economically plausible. Or in most cases just pushed aside with the comment, "you should just by an evo". <-- Believe me, if I could travel back in time I would have just untucked my man parts from my vajayjay and coughed up the extra cash, but i did not, so here I am
But, in light of my given situation I have to explore all other non full evo buying options. On to the problem and questions..
Problem:
I am currently a proud owner of a 2010 Ralliart with a blown engine block.
Yes this was my own stupidity and I will take a full flogging for it. Too much boost = one big hole in the block and one, more than slightly irritated wife.
This issue was due to me not having enough knowledge but just enough to be deadly. I would like to say it happens to us all, but in this case it really doesn't.
Full engines for this model seem to be a rare find if any find at all. Not to mention the cost is pretty close to the same as an evox motor of the same year. I know we would all like to say, hey, money is no object but chances are, for most of us it is more than just an object at times. Which brings me here to ask these questions, weigh out my options and get some professional/OJT advice.
Questions
1. Since evoX engines are more prevalent, can I swap a full evo engine into the ralliart and possibly use a stock evox map from Cobb to re-flash the ecu? (I have a Cobb AP). Of coarse I would need the intercooler, ICUP, ICLP, exhaust manifold downpipe, air intake and a possible battery re-location.
The other reason I ask this crazy question is because most of the shortblock pricing I have come across to just rebuild the block would cost me as much as a full evox engine pulled from a prior running vehicle. As I have no good core to return back the price for the ralliart block alone pretty much doubles to roughly 4-5 grand. My pricing is from reliable companies like AMS and Buschur. And of coarse this does not include the internals.
2. To piggy back off of the last question, I also pondered the possibility of a GSR base-map re-flash.
Would that be a plausible scenario?
3. I am hoping since they are both 4B11T blocks they will mount to the chassis the same.
Is this or is this not the case?
4. Will the evo engine give me issues bolting to the SST?
5. Will the evo map flash (or GSR basemap, if either are possible) give me issues with the SST table variables and the ECU re-flash variables being completely different from stock?
(I have read some places where the SST variables in 5th and 6th gear are off by a bit for fuel economy purposes)
6. Can these issues (if any) be rectified if I take it in for a tune?
And just to throw it out there, I bought the car with the overall goal to have fun and have a decent amount of power, I did not need all the bells and whistles that an evo offers nor am I looking to turn the ralliart into an evo, just a fast ralliart.
Mods I have include:
Ultimate Racing HFC with mini muffler
Magnaflow 3" CBE
K&N drop in (not really a mod but close enough)
Cobb AP with stage 2 93 map re-flash
GFB deceptor 2 BOV
GFB EBCS with 3 port solenoid
was pushing a reliable 26psi tapering down to 21psi (but I got all boost crazy like a tardo and went higher)
Thanks in advance for the flogging and any helpful responses.

I would say yes the motor will fit
All your questions you answered on your own. It all seems possible like you said you would need a good tuner to straighten all these issues out. Thus adding more cost.
Ultimately your best option imo will be to turn on the patience most likely be a donor ralliart...there's a part out on here for one right now. Unless of course you've considered that already.
One last thought if you have money available if you find a part out you may be able to get a motor tranny combo then unload your tranny

its the same engine, same engine mounts... any 4b11T engine part will mount up just fine so long as its for the same trans...
the only catch could be a GSR block as i assume the 5spd and SST will have different mounting arrangment for the trans, though mitsu might have been smart and used the same bolt pattern on both transmissions

Should bolt in - no s/w mod required.
The only difference between EVO X and RA is the crank... Everything else on long block is the same.
Pull on it from an EVOX MR if you want to be safe (about bolt patterns) - but I would just ask in the EVO X forum.
I assume you understand why your first engine failed - so it won't repeat. If not sure - let us know.
GL!

This may be an old post but I am curious about the statement in the crank between an MR, GSR 411B being different. I am very new to Mitsubishi's and imports for that matter, but would it not be the same as any American V8, flex plate for automatic trans, vs flywheel for a standard trans? I know the SST uses clutches but they are internal in the transmission from what I have studied so far. Bolt pattern on the crank should be the same. I do not see a manufacturer using two different crank shafts on identical long blocks. Just curious. Feel free to bash me to death lol!

the crank the rods pistons and all head is diff only thing the same is the block.
I bought a rally art block sold it to my buddy as he is now making 800whp on this sleeved block
Good luck

I beg to differ on the internals being different. According to most forums and companies that build EVO's and Ralliarts, the internals are all the same, all the way down to the camshafts. TB may be different, injectors maybe and turbo plus manifold definitely. Spark plugs are different as well. A simple EVO X turbo swap and a couple changes such as FMIC and pipes put a Ralliart equal in the HP range so I am saying no to your statement. Anyone and everyone chime in if you would.

For anyone that is curious, the EVO and Ralliart internal parts are exactly the same. I just did about a half hour of research looking at each individual part # between both engines and they are the same part #'s for both vehicles. With that being said, the EVO X and Ralliart share the same long block minus intake and exhaust.
