Help: JDM evo 4 full swap into 05 MR

Im trying to find info on this so i can decide if i want to go that route or the 05-06 mivec.

I wanted to know if the motor is a straight drop in ? i saw one thread where a guy stated you only need to change the harness and the ecu.. but he said his evo is fwd. Even if someone can tell me which section they saw any info on it and ill look it up

FWD evo? unless it was converted like that....
Are you trying to put an evo 4 engine into the 05 MR? may I know why? the evo 4 engine was known for some serious crankwalk, if it is the other way around ( 05 engine into evo 4) then by all means do it, yes you will need ecu and wiring harnsses, maybe some modification to the motor mounts also.

I brought a shell and I can't find a Swap locally. Had a few horror stories with buying from a long distance private seller. I am located in NYC. If you have any info on a place I can go please let me know. But thanks for the info it helped me eliminate that option

Having the exact same issue. It's either I buy a motor on here or I'm SOL on finding one anywhere else.

here maybe i can help out with since im running a jdm evo 4 engine and tranny. you will need a new tcase for an evo 8. the tranny is fine thats what im using(the evo 4). i would also use an evo 8/9 intake mani so you wont have any problems with the wiring. use the evo 8 ecu and wiring its a lot easier . for those who are interested i will be selling mine in a few . just let me know if you have anymore questions. dont let people tell you these motors have or will get crankwalk . they think its like the older engines

you shouldnt eliminate this option. no crankwalk like the other older engines. its actually a pretty easy swap

why would you want to put an EVO 4 motor into an EVO 8? those motors are a lot weaker than the 8's, and years behind in technology aren't they? doesn't seem to make any sense to me.

weaker how havent really found much difference. can you prove that they are alot weaker. as for crankwalk in person i found one evo 8 with it. i had to sell him a block. how should i prove they are pretty good engines by putting a big turbo and driving it with 25psi and up for a while.. if we're going by talk i would rather go by what ive seen and just say all evo 8 blocks suck due to crankwalk

i'm talking about weaker as in stock power levels, and technology as in fuel efficiency, among other things. calm your nerves dude.

if your in brooklyn, go talk to Ricky from Cosmo auto performance
or Loon from Kings Motor Works.
They have full swapped Evo 3 and Evo 4 Mirage Conversions. they should be able to tell you every nut and bolt on evos. Mitsubishi fanatics
