I just bought a 2011 mitsu lancer ralliart 70k miles. It states Service engine soon and one of the codes brought up p187a and it stood for 5th gear block. I also noticed sometimes when I am in 6th gear and I coast to slow down, it sometimes doesn't want to shift to 5th and it will pop up "transmission service required". Than it goes away and shifts through all gears perfectly. Sometimes it pops up and has trouble and when the transmission indicator does not pop up... it drives perfectly. The only mods I believe were added to it were intake and exhaust.. I really hope the tranny doesn't need to be replaced and I'll just need to have a transmission fluid and filter change.. What would your ideas be.?.?

 

Get it looked at by a Mitsubishi Dealership if you can duplicate the problem pretty easily. If it's only intermittent then it will be harder for them to diagnose.

It also threw the code p0101 so think that a defective or dirty MAF sensor could be the cause of this.?.?
