Nice triangle and P0012 code

Hi there, as the title says, I´ve got the fault code p0012 logged. I´ve tried the easy way and just changed oil and holding my thumbs it would help. But as you can guess by yourself it did´nt. I think I was reading somewhere earlier that sometimes it could be sensors that where dirty, so maybe cleaning them could be the solving thing to do. The car is a ralliart from 2010, 13k~km, ligthly tuned. Boost pill, openair and GST map. Or could it be the chain that is stretched? I´m just guessing that you should have some special tools to do the chain change? I work as a mechanic at VW in sweden so I know how to change chains :P Friendly regards Daniel

I had the same code pop up to about nine months ago. 2010 Ralliart with 48,532 miles on it. First thing is take it to the dealer and make sure you have to new updated Ecu program on it. If it does hope that your camshaft intake or exhaust sensor is bad. If there not it will be the timing chain. Mine was the timing chain but thank god I had bought a extended warrant and they covered it in full. Other wise get ready to drop 1400.00 on just a timing chain replacement.

I posted a known good cam crank correlation a little while back. If you have a scope and happen to save the capture post it please.

Any car pre-2011 had the v1 timing chain that was prone to stretching so right now I’d say your chain is stretched. Stop driving it before you skip a tooth
