Timing Chain and P0012?

So i started getting the P0012 code randomly and took my car in into the dealer, they checked the timing chain and said it was stretched so I had them replace it. few days later I get the triangle again. P0012 again. Only happens when I come to a stop usually at a stop light. Any one have any ideas? I've read some people state that its possible a cam sensor but no one stated that was coming on at a stop/idle. Thought I'd ask here before a 2 hour drive back to the dealer. Thanks in advance for any insight.

Car is a 2009 Ralliart. around 82000 miles.

Bring it back to the dealership. It's covered under 12month/12k mile warranty. It could be something as simple as they forgot to reset the "Timing Chain Maintenance" monitor in the ECU, but either way it should still be warranted under the previous repair.

If you get the triangle of death on the dash, don't drive the car. Or you could be up for $4K repair when a piston hit the valves. Happend to a clubcj member. Check out clubcj.net, they are Australian based and can refer you to reputable specialists.

Hey mate, did you ever figure this out? Ive replaced my timing chain and a VVT sensor and still got the warning light while stopped in traffic.

2011+ already has the upgraded timing chain so it should be fine, especially if the car is stock. They need to reset the chain sensor when replacing timing chain. A dealer or a evo specialist will have the MUT tools to do that.

Mmm, not too sure that is it to be honest. After i had my chain replaced it was a bit over a week before the warning came back. I will double check with the mechanic that replaced the chain but i remember him stating that he reset the value.

I just saw this as I went the same thing, started at 86k miles. Thought I would chime in my pennies worth. I kept getting P0012, P0014 at random. The chain was supposed to have been upgraded by the dealer Engine was sluggish, ran more rich than normal. Reflashed with Evo flash, did pcm resets and relearns replaced cam sensors, actuators, crank sensors. Check wiring harness think I had it fixed then would pop up again. Finally got to hating my car decided had to be the cam phasers. I took off valve cover checked stretch. Was within limits, or appeared to be . I rotated the engine through with the cover off and found I had a foot long section of the chain was stretched horribly. Would actually sag between the cams. It had kinks and binding plates. I tore it down found it was the original chain, and was stretched enough to throw cam timing off by two teeth even though it did not jump time. I bought a Melling chain for 50$ off ebay put in it and car runs really strong now, and has went over three thousand miles with no more codes. Don't trust the dealers. I spent a lot of money and wasted a lot of time because of them.
