HOW TO: K&N SRI for no more than $70.00

This DIV is awesome, I have to concur with the statements about the MAF housing being a b**** to get on.. took me taking the metal clasp off and onto the actualy MAF unit to be able to get in.. took me about 45 minutes to do with a ton of cursing..
End result however, is epic, I was running around just seeing how she sounded and man did I turn a lot of heads..
Thanks for the great DIV tut

With so many people doing this mod, how many would be interested if I could get an intake/inlet tube made to work with the EvoX MAF tube that would replace the factory black accordion piece and still work with the stock big battery location? Still working out details, but just figured I'd gauge interest before moving forward (at which point I'll open a new thread as necessary)
Did this tube ever go into production?

Still working out the details and trying to put a proper jig together for exact replication to ensure fitment. I, or the vendor involved, will definitely update once this officially becomes available. Things are just very busy so progress on the parts-production front is very slow.

Im finally installed!
Went with the K&N RU5176.
removal of OEm stuff was a breeze.
I did flaten out the L shaped bracket.. and attach it to a bracket able to fit with oem screw.
Getting the MAF sensor plastic tube wasnt as bad as i thought, i did use a dab of synthetic motor oil to get it on... and opened the ring max. I put bottom in first and wiggles top in.
BOV sound is amazing and more pronounced as many of you said.
Between the spooling and the sucking sound coming from the front the car sounds like a jet turbine now.
great stuff guys.
thank you.

I finally got off my *** and did this. I had the parts sitting in my office since Jan/Feb lol
My impressions (for what it's worth), removal of oem parts was an absolute walk in the park. I removed the battery as well as I was putting in a new AGM Exide battery too.
Getting the MAF in wasn't too bad, but getting the #14 part into the rubber inlet was a b*tch! I spent a good 30-45 mins forcing it, eventually rubbed a small amount of WD-40 on the edges and it eventually made its way in, but I'm concerned it's not in far enough....
Driving impressions, the spooling sounds GREAT! I couldn't hear the turbo wind up before this, my Agency Power BOV is even louder now too. I did pop the hood when I got home to ensure everything was still tightened, no cel's.
I encourage everyone to give it a shot!

I just did this, only tough thing was getting the inlet in, but i used hand sanitizer as a lubricant, lol. The other annoying thing I ran into was the filter came lubricated and kept slipping off of the inlet. Overall it is great, the turbo spool is loud and my evo x stock bpv is louder aswell.

From what I've heard, the BOV sounds indeed really loud, as does the throttle plate. But I can't hear the turbo for all I try, the only sound is the whoooosh of the air rushing in.
