if you guys really think that removing your snorkel makes you lose power, you're on crack. the "loss", if there is any, would be so minimal that you wouldn't even notice it. the only time you get any significant heat-soak is when you're standing still. start moving again, and presto, cold air.
especially the way the 4b11t ralliart is designed, this is even less of an issue. the turbo is in the back, and the air box is more towards the front of the engine bay with the air inlet facing forward. it should not be a problem.

just for the record, in case it hasnt been clarified, those vents are for air to exit the engine compartment, not enter. ambient air enters from the front bumper/grill area while you're driving (and the scoop down towards the turbo) and the 2 vents allow the air to escape effectively creating the ability for more airflow through the engine compartment and cooler overall engine bay temps.

would this mod add or subtract hp, likely not anything noticable

Yeah, whats the deal with that? Does the Evo have one fake one also? Whats the point of making it fake, why not just make it real like the other one?

The Evo vents are the same. The vent isn't fake as chi-town said, its jus less flow. Could be many reasons why they did this; not that much heat generating on that side or maybe to help prevent water from gettin to certain components Either way the hood does what its suppose to do.

Could be designed that way to create a certain flow pattern to keep the most important areas cooler. =)

I'm confused here....the snorkel is the part that runs back to the air box that is in the BACK of the engine bay right? So removing the snorkel (which pulls the cold air in through the grille) will now have you pulling in HOT air from within the engine bay? This is like the same argument between a SRI and CAI right? I'm either not understanding what you guys are saying, or this thread is sadder than I thought
