I just did mine with the Evo X BOV. Literally takes 4 minutes. Mine points directly at the UICP and is slightly rested on it but not kinked at all. Hopefully the rubber piece doesn't melt lol

Swapped mine over tonight, had to change over the vacuum hose to something longer:

What do you think, is there enough heat coming off the IC piping to cause any problems? Should I be looking for a more permanent solution?

Thanks in advance.

^which BOV did you get? EVO IX or X?

Either way - general guidelines:
Buy it too long - it is easy to cut!
Use standard vacuum line. Nothing special. Use clamps.
'Shorter is better' but kinked is very bad! No too-tight radius for bends & and ensure the hood doesn't pinch it down when closed.

I just installed my oem X BOV. only took 5-10 mins to do. I did struggle a lol getting the hose off of the nipple of the RA bov. I can feel my car pull better.definitely a sound difference. A good one in my opinion.
I painted mine a glossy purple. 2nd best affordable mod you can do.

You only need a longer vacuum line if using an EVO IX BOV.

"If you need a longer one - just take the existing vacuum line to any parts store and ask for a longer one..."

Ordered mine on Wed. It should be here later next week. $222.00 from my local Mitsubishi dealer. Next is an EVO X intercooler and upper and lower pipes from somewhere.

Picked mine up from the dealership parts department yesterday and installed it today. What a big difference. The car seems to pull harder and hold boost throughout the entire rpm range. It did make a difference for sure. I could not push the diaphragm in on the EVO X one with my thumb but could easily on the plastic stock one. Definitely worth doing to a Ralliart.

Any pics of the painted BoV? What kind of paint did you use, just wondering how safe is it too paint something like that near all the heat?

Made the switch and it was definitely worth it. I can hear a sound difference and it pulls a lot better.

I'm looking into this myself, and here's the info I've compiled so far if anyone is looking to order parts new by part number:

1507A009 is the stock RA by-pass valve (AKA valve, air by-pass according to some parts catalogs) and it's made out of plastic.

1545A001 is the JDM Evo VIII-IX BPV, made out of metal, with a less convenient location for the vacuum line.

1545A007 is the Evo X BPV, made out of metal, with a more convenient location for the vacuum line.
