It's a lot of work, but worth knowing how to do in case you ever want to upgrade your intercooler or piping

Was going to do this today. I should have looked for instructions to remove the black cover first but after fighting it for awhile I looked and found that on an Evo thread.
Now I have a problem because I cant get the two clips off the airbox shroud. Last summer my front bumper was replaced after an accident and I have to believe the bodyman stripped these plastic screw clips. I've tried to pull off the shroud, but Im worried about damaging the other end when the clips let go. I also started to pop it with a screwdriver, but the plastic seems fragile and again I dont want to break anything. Any ideas?

It's normal to try to turn those plastic screw clips and have nothing happen....they're junk. I don't think mine ever "unscrewed" when the car was new. The way I loosen those two is by pushing upwards on them from underneath with my fingertip or a small screwdriver. Beats trying to pry them out (and scratching the clips all up).

Yep this is exactly what I've had to do for mine; just push on the bottom of them from underneath and then they should unscrew while you have pressure applied from the bottom. =)

It's not paint, it's Plasti-dip spray.

Plastidip can be easily peeled off, and doesnt damage the paint underneath. Its been used a lot in automotive stuff for exactly this reason.

I just finished my nose ring and the process was pretty easy mainly thanks to this thread. Having a stubby screwdriver is a must.

Two things I noticed that were different between the write up and my 2010 Sportback. First, the screws at the top of the lower mesh were 10mm bolt heads and not philips. Also, I didnt have any of the tape on the ring as mentioned in the write up.

Once I finish the window trim I'll put up some pics in the Newbie section.
