I have been wanting to do this for a while! The only reason I didn't is because I did not want to remove the bumper. Oh and a buddy of mine thinks Plastidip is worthless!!! But until someone decides to make a CF or plasticly grey/black nose ring, I'm DOING IT!

Tried this today, but I could not get the corner screws (approx. at 5 and 7 o'clock positions) open, even if I already have a short, stubby screwdriver. There's like 2 inches room to maneuvre Same goes for some screws in the middle.

Actually the showstopper for me was that I can't remove the lower mesh competely, it's held in place by my defa engine block heater socket :/

The only one that I had issues with was the corner screw and five o'clock. I have a smaller arm, so I was eventually able to get it.

Looks good, but is this really any easier than taking the bumper off?

If it wasn't for the screw at the bottom-right corner (i.e., if you are facing the front of the car), I would definitely say yes. This was the route that I took. I had never removed the bumper before, so I figured this was the next best thing that I knew I could do.

I plan on Plasti-Dipping the bottom "lip" of the bumper this Spring/Summer, so I will remove the bumper for that.

Short Phillips bit and a tiny 1/4 wrench works wonders to get the tricky screws out in those tight spaces.

Painted mine today in about 3-4 hours. Didn't even take the ring off and it looks great for being my first real DIY project. Got some paint bubbles, but nothing some sandpaper and a quick three sprays cant fix!

And YES I do use old boxers as a paint can holder and tester lol.

I had mine CF wrapped. See my thread CF hood/trim wrap. It's much thicker and more durable than plasti dip:

I tried removing the chrome trim on the weekend which was a pain in the ***. I have small hands and stubby screw drivers but i still couldn't get access to the screws either side of the intercooler. I did however find a solution, i popped the covers off the fog lights and accessed the screws through these holes.

Hope this helps.

I attempted to remove the ring today and could not get the bottom mesh out fully. I even tried taking out the skid plate screws to get up behind the mesh. It was just one big pita for me so I will be taping mine off come spring. My original plan was to take it off so I could do a carbon fiber vinyl rap on the ring.
