Havent had any problems with my Plasti-dip parts. held up fine since aug. in the carwash, snow, salt, ice. I put something like 5-6 coats. Then i hit a snow bank this winter and cracked my bumper. the bodyshop had to replace most of the front end. so i got a new ring with a prof paint job and quality paint.

I had plastidip on my last car for 3+ years. Never had a single chip. The stuff is amazing for blacking-out.
You want to be generous with the coats when applying. Not only does this make it more durable, but if you ever have to take it off, it makes removal 1000 times easier and comes off in one big piece.

It will not damage paint. It has been used on roofs, wheels, headlamps, metal and plastic chrome, bare metals, etc. You can even cover your hand in it if you wanted....don't know why you would, except its kind of fun to peel it off lol.

I just blacked out mine this weekend. 4 coats of Plastidip and dry overnight, only to have it peel on my firs wash by hand. Im gonna re-do it with satin black spray paint. strip, sand, prime and paint. I should have done that to begin with. Dont waste your time with the plastidip.

so wait how do you do this? do you take off your chrome piece and dip it or just mask the car off and paint it? Can someone give me a Lowes link to the product?

seriously dude if you plasit dip once you'll eventually be doing it again and again and again. take off the ring as instructed and be sure to get all the screws. a few of them are hidden behind some trim guides so pay attention so you dont break it like I did. scuff it with some 400 grit and paper clean it and primer about 2-3 coats should do. I did 3 of primer and then 3 of flat black. came out like a rockstar and handles the drive thru car wash like a champ. plasti will peel but if you do it I advise you scuff and primer under it as well. ok good luck.

Never had a problem with plasti-dip. I like plasti dip because it peels off easy if i ever want to go back to chrome. I think its pretty durable for normal driving and washing your car. I dont know about doing it again and again.

Plastidip Fun
Hey Guys
well I got sorta bored this weekend and decided to black out my car more lol. I went ahead and redid the hood scoop with PlastiDip, then I did my chrome ring and lower bumper along with the window trim. What do you guys/girls think? Btw I did my own headlights a while back

Looks good Mike.
I tried plasti dip and could not get the **** to look good whats so ever; probably not enough time between coats. Im setting up to get the chrome painted permanently.
DEfinitely looks good.
