RA waxes and polish
RA waxes and polish
Hey guys,
I am curious what you guys are using to wax your RAs and take care of that nasty paint job? haha. I have a GG and it seems like no matter what I do it scratches. Right now I am using a buffer with NXT syn wax and quick detail spray in between washes. Scratch X 2.0 on the deep stuff. Tell what you use and how its working out for you. Any secret technique to getting those little surface scratches out?

www.autopia.org will answer everything you need to know!
It could very well be your washing habits that are causing the swirls. Do you wash your car by hand, in the self-wash bays, or through the drive-thru? If you wash/wax yourself, microfiber towels grab onto everything it touches i.e. dirt. NEVER let them touch the ground or any kind of dirty surface. So, they are only good for a few washes/wax sessions. If you don't know how to use a buffer, you'll most likely make your car worse. There are lots of information online, like the autopia website I gave you. Try a polish you can rub on and off by hand, that should clear up most of your swirls.

Thanks Toredefine! I am meticulous when it comes to washing and waxing. I only use microfiber and actually buy new ones for every wash. I am just inquiring into what all you other guys like to use for waxes and polishes. If there is a "scratch removing" wax that you prefer over scratch x 2.0, etc. Oh and if you havent heard of it, check out "AutoGeek.net. Great site

Meguiars and sometimes Mothers Products are what I use. I have experimented alot with all the washes and I feel that the best is Mothers Carnuba and or the Meguiars waxes. Right Now I have a Meguiars claybar kit and cleaner wax and quick spray and I also have the NXT hand application wax instead of liquid. I usually claybar depending on how much grime I have on the car and how smooth the car paint surface is.to the touch. I think soap makes the biggest difference in how the car turns out and I suggest Meguiars Gold wash. I probably have alot more to say but I cant think of anything else at the moment.
Nice, this is what I was looking for! I am really into keeping a clean car. I havent used a clay bar yet, but I dont really have alot of dirt or grime in the paint yet...or oxidation. I am curious about some of the smaller companies like swissvax and poorboys.

i don't know much bout this but i use a meguiraz purplelish pink solution, and turtle wax scratch and swirl remover, trutle wax platinum. it get's rid of the scratches just fine, i'll probably stick to this until mine runs out.

I have one more question about what you guys use for the rain repellant for our glass, windows, side mirrors front and back. I'm using a kind of rain repellant spray on but it sucks. any suggestions?

You'd be surprised at how much the claybar will actually remove. You may not see anything on the paint but its definitely there. My favorite part is that it leaves the paint feeling super soft after a good waxing.

Some people mentioned rain guard [i.e. RAIN X] products. I personally don't like to use that stuff. It always seems to somehow ruin the clear coat and paint after some time. I don't know what it is, but it may be a harsh abrasive chemical mixture. I guess if it stays on the glass only, then that's ideal.
When it comes to clay bar'ing, people can use pretty much ANY product. They are all the same. Why? Because there are only one or two facilities that produce it! So if you find it cheap somewhere, even at your local auto store, don't be afraid to pick it up and use it.
I also check out autogeek :-)
