Talking 09 REvolution All Show and Go

Started out with a 08 vrx which I did a fair bit to but kinda got to the point where it was all show and no go.
Found a 2009 ww RA and slowly read through all the forums/tuning guides and gathered my parts.

Up until now the car build wise was pretty standard - exhaust, gst maps etc etc ~250 hp low 13 second 1/4 miles. Very fun but nothing really stand out

Last few weeks I went down the turbo swap road so thought I'd put together a thread. I've put it up on some other forums, maybe others can find this useful or give me tips etc.

It's taken awhile but Ive had fun in my garage building it all up to where it is now.
A big thanks to usual suspects Tephra, Bryan and Richard for all their work in the evo/ra world.
Extra big thanks to Beeble who's been my tuning coach
Learned alot going through Bryan's gst tune map by map as my intro to tuning 101 on the stock ra turbo.
Still a bit of fine tuning with this latest step of the build but im very happy with how its come along. Hopefully get some 1/4 mile times soon to how it stacks up to the other great ra builds out there.

Nice. Im thinking about going that route now. Im at least going e85 on the stocker X turbo. I might upgrade to a green or ef2/3. Hows the injectors and pump holding up with e85 and the turbo. I have 1000cc injectors right now and was going to buy a 255 walbro and my tuner said it wont be enough for both the green and e85. Im not sure if the ef2 is smaller then the green.

What kind of CF Intake Snorkel is that? Is it functional or just covering the real one? Anymore pics/info on the tinted taillights? Nice clean car!

Password JDM intake/radiator cover. yes its functional as in the air comes up through the radiator shroud and into the intake. there's then a normal pod style filter inside.
Basically a sealed SRI intake. Is it the best for performance? probably not but I got a good price on it and it looks unreal. Plus I'm not convinced the intake is limiting anything at these levels. My other option was going to be a used stock evo x intake setup.

Lot of the so called power gains claimed by intakes can be done via proper tuning of your fuel maps.

Tail lights are just wrapped in vinyl.

green and ef2 are in the same ballpark and you'd probably be splitting hairs trying to compare them. I liked what i saw from Kracka's build and the price was right for me.

1000cc and 255 seem to be a good match for my setup and im not seeing it lean out at the upper end so ya no shortage of fuel. Did the fuel relay swap but ya nothing else fancy going on in terms of fuelling.

The shortrunner manifold and cams have kinda lost a bit of the low end torque and stock spool like characteristics of the EF2 but its really helped the top end and its a much better match for the sst imo. especially with stock clutches!

Super sport line pressure combined with sst ecu tuning is all you need on the transmission side of things. The engine block will go before the stock sst gives you slip issues.

If i did it all over again I'd probably give the EF3/red/bbxfull a go in all honesty, keep the same torque down low to keep the block and sst happy and just have that bit extra capacity in the upper rpms.

I think at these levels the ef2 is starting max out. I didn't upgrade the springs/valves but i wouldn't be surprised that if I did rev it out to 8k+ the ef2 would drop away and something like the ef3 might be able to hang on.

Now i think the cars pretty much maxed out. If I ever wanted more it'd have to go to an actual shop and I'd have to start paying labour, full engine build which might as well be paired with a t3 kit, so might as well be 2.2/2.4 and then i'd need more fuel , and then clutch packs etc etc so ya this is probably it unless i find a spare 15k+ in the couch!
