Amsoil Air Filter 1/22/2013
Amsoil air filter (4560) replacing an old K&N - pretty minor but I thought I'd take a couple pics anyway:

Wideband runs a little leaner, like I expected, but still in a normal range. Actually I thought the original tune might have been a little rich - anyway I plan on tscompusa to tune this car soon.
Looks like I need the flush/refill the ACD pump fluid soon though

As strange as it may sound... if the window sticker was for an '06 GSR, yes, I would buy it... I have all the original booklets for the car, some pamphlets from Japan and some other minor documentation, but I do want an original window sticker as the car will be placed in car shows, and that's a piece of information I'd like to have. For one reason, I can assure that in my small town, NO ONE would believe the original window sticker price of this car... it's just a simple four door saloon, right?

Sound System Removal and Excalibur Security 1/23/2013
Basically, I found a local shop here that was willing to trade the subwoofer and amps that were in the car for:
- Free labor to uninstall
- Free alarm system + install (and after that I decided to go with the top end model for an extra $150)
- Hookup for dvd/nav when it comes.
I think a very fair deal, considering I never wanted any of the stuff in the first place:
Before:

After:

Eventually that crease in the trunk mat will go away, eventually I'll have enough crap piled on to load it down.
However, it still has these in it:

Besides the dynamat, which I will probably just leave in all but what's stuck on the roof of the trunk, those explosive-looking things are some sort of special sound thing that the car's aftermarket speakers require in order to operate properly. The stock MR audio system was simpler and didn't need such things, so I will probably get on the hunt for a stock system.
As far as the security system goes, these guys sold me on this Excalibur brand, saying pretty much that they're way more consistent than Viper, more reliable, yada yada.. well - there was a unit available that was on par with the Viper 5904 that I had originally wanted, so I thought I'd give it a shot; in terms of settings, I made the sensitivity pretty low, and it has a good number of features (which I won't list here -- just in case..
)
I had them mount the siren here:

And the antenna up here (which I kind of regret and will move somewhere hidden later):

It actually looks okay in these pictures, but I see it every time I look in the rearview mirror - I figure if this thing's got a claimed mile range, it can receive signal if I place it behind the glovebox or something.
My favorite part of this system is probably the key fob - form factor wise, it's not nearly as big as it's competitors, and really not all that much bigger (relatively) than stock:
Key fob:

The bad new is that this thing has been an absolutely nightmare in terms of programming. I asked them to show me how it works before I left the shop (thank God) and they could not get this thing to disarm with the 2-way alarm. The 1-way alarm works fine, but the 2-way keeps switching to a "Car 2" mode, and you have to switch it back to "Car 1" before being able to disarm it - all while the siren is going off. They were pretty perplexed, and said they'll look into it and call me first thing in the morning.
When I got home I decided to give it a shot myself, after playing with the device, and tried unlocking the car with the key - the alarm went off, and this time it actually disarmed with the 2-way - but now, whenever it's disarmed, the symbol for Door 1 is flashing... I tried it again for good measure, again through the door, and this time it went back to that "Car 2" nonsense.
The good thing in all of this is that the 2-way communication does work (though I'll get "out of range" from time to time) and that the car does arm itself and protect itself from bangs and unauthorized door unlocks. As far as I can tell, it seems more like a software/programming issue rather than a hardware/install issue.
Will update this post as I figure out what it is. Maybe it's just a bad unit.

Wasn't a bad unit, just the way they were shipped out some of them were programmed odd from the factory - the way to program these is very easy, so it took literally about 20 seconds, and working perfectly now
