End tank design is every bit as important as a good core design. With the two dimples in the Nisei end-tanks and with the piping being way at the bottom, I would seriously question their effectiveness. Also, they claim a higher overall surface area, but the stock Evo front bumper design blocks airflow to a large part of the upper portion of the IC ... [shrug]

The real question, besides core and end tank design, would be how much can the IC flow and how little pressure loss is there?

some good reading on intercoolers (this link has been posted before) ... http://www.are.com.au/techtalk/intecoolersMR.htm

Of course it sold you. That's what it was designed to do. I still stand by my statement that the Nisei is a great piece, but probably a little on the big side for the stock turbo. Unless someone can show me otherwise. And things like "Nisei is better" don't count

And if you watch their comparo, the Buschur is the only other one with a high density core. And I like the end tank design better on the Buschur

If you seriously want a FMIC, simply do your homework! Now about Nisei... even if price had nothing to do with what you wanted to buy....try finding this type of information on the web about any other FMIC companies... especially since this was done by other members!

Good luck brother!

The next four links are showing how this AVO held up against the Nisei. 1st link is the starting temp, 2nd link is the finishing temps for AVO.

The only thing i would like to know about the Nisei FMIC is, does it affect the coolant temps because it is so tall?

I second that. I would also recommend the book, "Maximum Boost," by Corky Bell. The specific information is a bit dated nowadays, but the basics still hold true.

Regarding the coolant temps I would have to say "no" from my experience. I believe that issue had been resolved /addressed by many others on many different threads. One thing I would like to point out is, if you go outside and look at the front end of your car, you will come to find the stock FMIC doesn't mount any higher than the bumper support ( basically same as the Nisei FMIC). Last thing you will notice is that the majority of the radiator is still exposed to the same ventilation as OEM.

from what i felt, it did give a pretty good gain in power up top, definitely noticeable, and their customer service is also great IMO. plus it fills in the front grill nicely, and even better now that i have the c-west kit. almost a perfect fit

And again the stock I/C is only rated at 600cc... about half that of any aftermarket kit! 600cc can only flow so much air.
