I thought that I head that the T case was a failure point

It absolutely is, maybe the biggest one. But I think he implied that when he mentioned the front LSD.

The Tcase only becomes a concern if you like to drag race your car. There are plenty of posts on here from folks who broke their transmission and tcase due to drag racing or just launching the car too hard all the time. This really isn't any different than any other AWD car that gets launched hard repeatedly, so I don't see how you could call the tcase a failure point. IMNSHO the 'failure point' in these instances is the driver - especially those that whine about it afterwards. If you keep dumping the clutch, something's going to break.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any post related to a tcase failure as a result of tracking an Evo on a road course or from normal daily use.

I did not mean to imply that the lack of a front LSD = weak tcase. The lack of a front LSD gives the car a weak point in terms of handling, which can be improved by installing a front LSD. Either way, I don't consider the Tcase (with or w/out LSD) to be a reliability concern. Then again, I don't drag race my car either - I just beat the snot out of it on local road courses.

Got my Shep Rear Diff installed yesterday up at AMS Performance. Only about 1 mile on it thus far, but the creak/crack sounds a low speed when turning are there! It's a little creepy but I know the plates are doing their thing.

I'll be tracking it this weekend, so look for a full review as soon as I can.

Shep stage 2 tcase and upgraded (12 plate) rear diff coming up here on top of trans; very glad this thread came up when it did, else I probably would've ended up shipping the rear diff off to TRE. Not that anything's wrong with the TRE unit, but it'll be nice to have everything come back at the same time.

Honestly, I don't know what version I have. I called Shep and told him what I do with the car and that was it! I'll get ahold of him and find out for sure. All I know is it's the 1.5way.

Ok.... 1st day track review!!!!!!!
It's awesome!! And yes it sounds feakin horrible at low speeds and sharp turns. If I didn't read the reviews and expect to hear the creaks I would have been really freaked out!

At the same time of the install, I had the Moustache Bar Eliminator put in. So now with the shifts, the car is uber loud - and it's awesome! Given I've also recently stripped out ALL the carpet in the front of the car and I run a 3" straight catless TBE.

Anyways, how does it work you ask? Just like advertised; plain and simple. My understeer from mid-corner on is simply gone. The *** end will 'catch up' to the front under 3/4-full throttle. I have to counter-steer some now!

I run NASA Time Trials. What was even better today; my first 2 sessions were wet. I left the ACD in 'Tarmac' mode so I could see the full effects of the Diff. Wow; what that awesome! I ran video and I'll have some after the weekend - along with a FULL writeup. I'll be sure to link it.

Dropped 1.3 seconds off my best time at a track I run a LOT. And there's more in it...

It's a beautiful thing, isn't it?

Made my Evo sooo much more fun to track.

Dropped another .8 seconds on Sunday! That's a total of 1.9 seconds of my best time at this track - Autobahn South Course! Keep in mind I've been to this track 4 times alone this year - a total of 6 days of tracktime. It's a great comparison because RTA runs there.

Best in TTA trim - 1:33.1

Full review (and awesome video) coming... and I'll post a link or synapsis or something here!

Sounds great! Do you have the stock acd flash and do you see any potential benefit of using this diff with a more aggressive acd flash?

Stock. I ran my ACD in Tarmac all weekend - in the dry and in the wet. I wanted to see how squirrely it'd get!

I thought about doing the ACD reflash, but was just unsure about it. In the end, Shep's upgrade is the same price (not counting install) and I know for sure it's changing something.

Now could I use more transfer; probably. But I'm still on stock swaybars, run 0 toe and minimal front camber (-2.5) as my front camber plates are maxed out.

Great to read even more positive reviews. I have yet to hear of anyone who isn't very satisfied with the results. I think I'm ordering one today.

Boomn29,(edit: read on your bog you're using JICs) Sounds like you could benefit form a LOT more front camber. Have you considered the pros and cons of raising the rear spring rates vs. upgrading the rear bar?

I'm planning on new suspension for 2011 - so the JIC's are going to be gone after my next & last event of the year.
I'll do as must as I can with spring rates as NASA TT you have to account for every mod and swaybars are 2pts.

Agreed on the camber! I just didn't feel like modding my plates mid-way through this year so I'm just tuffing it out as best I can. I can promise I'll have more camber available next year!

Yeah, I have no idea how you're running that little camber at that point.
