install uego controller on stock DP or wait

I just bought an AEM uego controller for my car and I want to install it but will be upgrading the DP as soon as JIC DP is available. Should i wait since the bung needs to be welded in?

if you're on the aem ems, you can hook it up on the 02 housing in the stock location. If not, then wait for the jic dp to save the hassle.

AEM recomeds putting it farther away from the head than the stock O2 housing location. Most people just put it there anyway, but it could reduce the life of the sensor.

just installed this unit on the hiflow cat, pre-cat element. I noticed two things:

1. when crusing, displays in 14 -15 ratio and at WOT shows 11 - 12 ranges as intended. but half the time it blanks out w/ horiz bars when below 11...

2. I think it's creating RF distortions, I now hear constant hissing thru HU... Regrounded and checked wiring, already...

Why not install the bung on the pipe right after the downpipe? I've got my wideband bung welded in on my cat pipe.

The AEM Gauge unit only reads between 11 and 17 AFR. When outside of this range it shows --

I went to the Zeitronix ZT-2 with display since it reads from 9 to 22 with no problem and is compatible with the EMS and other standalones if you have one of those.

Install the sensor i n the rear o2 sensor hole that way it is far enough away heat wont affect it and you dont have to weld anything in

From what I've read on PLX's website the optimum position is at least 24 inches below the engine block turbo, but before the cat (guess the DP is as good a place as any). They also state that the sensor element will fail if exposed to EGTs above 850C.

The AEM directions say install it 36" from the exhaust manifold and if you have turbo, after the turbo before the cat, after the cat will not give accurate readings. Plus I want to stay street legal and not run a cat-delete pipe.

BTW, I havent gotten my JIC DP yet, should arrive this week. I cant wait.

I would never recommend anyone use any kind of AEM wideband product. FJO, LM1 or Zeitronix.. I mean, the EMS is great but the UEGO is a piece of engineering caca, hard to believe the same people made both.

Sell the UEGO before you blow something.
