Question regarding EMS & Sensors
Question regarding EMS & Sensors
Alrite I got a question for you guys....
I have in my hands my EMS just urging me to put it on! I also have the AEM 3.5BAR map sensor,AEM AIT, and the Buschur boost control kit.
I have already wired in the boost solenoid but have it capped off for now(currently using mbc).
But my question is I am trying to save money by installing the sensors myself and wiring them. Then only thing is I am not sure that my tuner will be able meet with me the same day I install them.
Will I still be able to just drive my car with the AIT and MAP sensors installed without the ems hooked up and tuned? Or will my car not even start?
I know most people install them and tune in the same day, but I am short on money right now.
Thanks

Heres the link from the buschur site:

It comes with the solenoid and the pigtail like in the pic. But also with two little blue connectors to put the ends of the spliced wires into and then crimp them down. Pretty neat little things. Everything fit back into the black cover. Looks like factory. Ran me 45 and then shipping, which i think was like 10 bucks.

Just dont plug them in. Run the vaccum to the map sensor, mount it and splice in the wires, leave unpluged, same with the ait sensor. Than when you get to the shop, all you have to do is disconnect the maf and the mdp(or whatever the name of that one is) and connect the new ones. Easy.
And write down the part number(if you cant read it once its on the car) of the new Map sensor before its in the car, they will need to know it to do the tune.

Hmmm there we go. El o El. I lack the common sense of a normal person
Thank you for the help guys.
This will save me a couple of hundred doing this myself. The only thing I do not know how to wire in is my wideband. Any info on that ?
Why would they need the part # off the map sensor ? Thats weird.

I guess there are a few different map sensors on the ems, so they have to know which one exactly it is. When I got mine tuned, I have it zipped tied to the strut brace and had to cut it out just to see the part number. Would have been easier if I had it written down or knew it.
And I dont know about saving a couple of hundred, its not that hard to put in. And if they try to charge you that much, leave.
The wideband is just one wire to the ecu, its in the directions for it. And you can get the pin out from the ems directions.
