Uh.......you would be incorrect my friend. I think you need to do some research next time you plan on giving someone advice

I'm also running stock ecu with a 35r and like many on this site, I haven't had any problems (although I already set up for AEM, the only thing I'm missing is the main unit).

I have an AEM EMS, Sensors and 4" intake setup right here just waiting on me to run into a snag with the stock ECU I haven't found a reason to install it yet but maybe I will once I put in the new shorty/head/cams and raise the boost from 30 to 40psi...we'll see.

If you are using the stock MAF you should be close to the max of what it can read in terms of airflow.

When I switched to the AEM the car started to drive like it was closer to stock again. When pushing the stock MAF so far I was noticing drive issues. I picked my AEM up for 1050 shipped with sensors right here on evom. I would go with a 5 bar sensor otherwise down the road when you really start upping the boost you'll hit a dead end, like me

I've worked around that issue with my Stealth and might do the same on the Evo, not sure yet.

I'm going AEM EMS on the stock turbo for E85. I like the resolution and ability to do just about anything I want on it. (Yes, you can do the same with the stock ECU but I do not feel the fine resolution is there enough.)

The stock IX turbo will eventually be chucked for an FPRed.

I have been for 45k but I just ordered a buschur 2.0 because I plan on raising the boost to 40psi with c16 soon.

If I upgrade to aem ems should I expect any power gain over a stock maf ? From the earlier posts it seems I need more sensors with the 30-1313 aem unit if I wanted to get rid of the maf completely. If I bought the uego would that help in any besides tuning?

yes you can expect a power gain from ditching stock maf. and also eliminate phantom knock. its a great idea if you have the bigger mods like bigger turbo and built motor. i have one for sale too if you are interested. its for the evo ix i want $1000 for it.

I'm ready to pull the trigger on the EMS, and thus have done a fair amount of research on it. I tune motorcycles, and we have some similar ECU's, so I kinda get the idea with it. My understanding is it gives a more finite control, takes away some factory installed safeguards that are set a little "safer" than they need to be, and the EMS gives you more parameters for adjustment. Even though the EMS and the stock ECU might be able to produce the same peak on a given motor, the EMS might be able to allow the tuner to tune a cleaner pull, ,meaning a smoother powerband, and possibly better target specific areas. Those with it would know this already when they switched over. If they felt a smoother powerband with it over the stock ECU, or possibly more power down low to mid, or anywhere for that matter. From what I gather it's (or others like Motec etc..) kinda a neccesity on high-hp motors. I don't have a high-hp motor, but like the idea of what it does, and having a local tuner well versed in tuning with it, feel I will benefit from the money spent on it. I believe I read a previous post that said something about it only being as good as the tune that's installed on it, and I would agree totally with that.
If any of you are aware with AMA road racing in the US, you know of the Superbike and FX classes. The bikes in both classes (the factory bikes anyway) use Motec on 'em to run the ignition and fuel management (even TC and launch control) This level of tuning is actually worth power when you get to the power level these bikes are making. The more finite tuning capability it affords you lets you run closer to the limit while still being under total control, compared to piggy-backs or even kit ECU's. IIRC we saw something like a 8-10 hp increase on a 140hp 600cc FX motor with the use of Motec over a kit ECU. I wish we had a relatively inexpensive control unit like the EMS for bikes like we do for cars. A Motec system can be $15k-$50k depending on what you running. That prices it out of the hands of everyone except the factories and Michael Jordan's team.
