Ok guys and gals. I have a little information for everyone that is looking for a serial to usb conversion cable, for their aem ems.


After seeing a few threads, and information in regards to this subject I figure I'd post up my .02 cents and help guide people in the right direction.

After receiving my ems I had the dilemma of only having a usb port on my netbook. I searched and found a few people used the io gear, belkin, and radioshack conversion cables. I decided to get the radioshack (gigawear) cable. I installed the drivers from the supplied disk, and went to try it out. I have 3 com ports on my laptop and software creates its own com port to select which makes it easy to select which port to use.

I plugged the cable into the aem ems, and into the laptop. Started aem pro and crossed my fingers. The ecu fired right up and I was logging and changing the map in seconds.

So based on my experience I completely recommend this cable. Its extremly simple and works amazingly. If anyone else has any experience please add, or post feedback once you jump for this cable like I did.

I have had very good luck with mine. Never any issues connecting to the ecu at all. I am also using a Mac Book Pro with Windows XP Pro.

 

Keyspan works great too on Window XP No issues

I use an IOgear without problems.
