finally dyno'd the evo w/the ems

we went down to knowledge performance over the weekend to finish up the evo we have been working on.

we had really good results.

303.7hp 314tq

all it has done is a RMR hard pipe kit, hks downpipe and exhaust, stock cat and converted to speed density. we managed to get the boost to hold fairly steady at 21ish psi, it started tapering off after 6000 rpms. the intake temps were sky high on the dyno, easly 30deg higher than what we see on the street.

ill have the dyno graph up soon

yep, thats on the 4 wheel dyno at knowledge performance near atlanta ga.

the car idles great. but it does take a while to start. it just seems that the car takes a few rotations to sync. no sync means no start. its kinda rough on the cold start, but i havent had much time to mess w/the cold start.

Thats my evo that wadzii is talking about...The guys at Eurospeed in Cary, NC did a great job on road tuning and dyno tuning at Knowledge in ATL.

The car was so well tuned on the road that it only took a couple of hours to really dial it in on the dyno.

Thanks to the guys a Knowledge Performance, they were super nice and have a great shop.

303hp @6050 rpm
312ft/lb@4000 rpm

Stock turbo, stock intercooler, stock internals, Hks full exhaust, stock cat converter, rmr int. tubing, and injen air filter.

Lemme know if you ever work out the sync/start issue. Mine's very similar. Well...was. I got most of it fixed, but I'm starting form scratch in the spring when I get my car back together so I'd be interested if you have any insights.

Using an internal wideband is the only way to go. FJO and AEM both make kickass units and now both companies make them with digital/analog gauges for quick readings w/o logging or laptop as well.

My evo was extremely rich when we first started. It was like the wideband was joking. I think it was in the mid 8's to low 9's. So we obviously picked up a lot of power by leaning it out.

we were using the aem uego installed in place of the front o2 sensor. the one on the dyno was wayyyy off. i dont like using o2's placed after the cat.

we never dyno'd it with the stock ecu.

it seems that the aem base map was way rich. not sure though, i changed it over to boost comp before we started the car.

I think they are fudged numbers, the Gain and the ratio are WAY off why did you get 6.x as the ratio lol. Here look at my chart. One of these charts is wrong.

we ran the car in 3rd gear, looks like you ran the car in 4th. on the dynapack the gear dosnt matter as long as you are loading the engine up fully.

the gain is the change in numbers from the lowest curve on the chart to the highest.

the start issue isnt cold start.. its starting in general, it always takes about 4-5 cranks before it sync's. thats an issue with the sensors in the car, not the ems however.

we were not seeing much above 70-75% duty cycle at the boost we were running. its not suprising though.. considering how fast the tq falls off. im going to be working to flatten that tq curve out next time i work on the car.

i cant share the cal.. the calibration belongs to the customer, not me. if it was my personal car id be more than happy to share it.. hope you can understand. if you have any questions feel free to im me on aim. my sn is in my profile.
