AEM Infinity and kiggly 12 tooth settings.

I got my evo 9 with AEM infinity and kiggly 12tooth running but just want to make sure its correct. Do you still have to change the injector phasing like v1 and v2. No instructions come for infinity and the only thing i can find is injector phasing. But with out changing injector phasing. Its running, driving and ignition sync. It throws CrankTimingError1 counts the whole time. Any insite?

You don't need to do anything with the injector phasing. Just select '12 Hall Crank & 1 Hall Cam' from the Cam/Crank sensor selection in the wizard.

As far as the timing errors, that's probably something to reach out to AEM support for. If you have the Kiggly 12 tooth kit, maybe the sensor air gap needs to be adjusted?

The Infinity user manual says:

CrankTimingError1 (too many crank edges, or crank accelerated faster than the limits set in the 'CrkExtraThr' table)

CrkExtraThr
This table sets the max allowable ratio for engine acceleration, depending on EngineSpeed. For evenly-spaced
patterns, set to low values such as 0.40 at low RPM to handle the quick acceleration that will occur when the
engine first fires. Higher RPM can use larger values such as 0.80 since the engine acceleration will be relatively
smooth when the engine is already running. For missing-1 and missing-2 patterns, set this to high values such as
1.60.

I just did this for an Evo 6 yesterday but during the time I was figuring it out I came across some info. for the 9. I am not sure if you know, but with the 12 tooth, to get Mivec working you need to remove 1 tooth from the crank wheel and take the cam signal from the intake cam instead of the exhaust cam. I read this in the facebook AEM Infinity group. It may be common knowledge, but I wasn't aware of this before.

Out of curiosity, what did you end up having your cam tooth and trigger offset values at?

I was not aware of that on the 9s..hm
But it played with it a little more. I was able to get it to stop throwing errors. I adjusted CrkExtraThr down from 1.9 to .8 and it stopped throwing the error.
Current settings are 1.5 for the one and .8 for the other
Cam sync is 1 and timing sync is 27.5
Runs, drive, idles.

Drove it back to work today. No errors while running, mivec cam seems to be reading accurately w/o cutting any teeth off.

OK, thanks. Interesting about the Mivec, as those guys were adamant you would lose cam control with the 12 tooth.

I got it to sync with Cam Sync at 2 and The timing offset at 28. That's a 30 degree difference to what you have. I have seen persons reporting various different numbers but I would expect them to be all in the same ball park.

Well you are correct. I did loose Mivec control. The it was showing change on the map but it wasnt doing anything. It was picking up exhaust cam degrees. Theres no changes on the mivec. Unplug exhaust cam sensor it drop cam signal. Unplug mivec solenoid or sensor and nothing. Debating on putting stock back in. As it was running and tuned, just decided to refresh re-delete balance shafts. Figure is could make a improvement why not, didnt realize 12t and mivec would be such a pain. Lol

Oh, ok. Thanks for confirming.

Check out the Infinity page on Facebook. It seems pretty straightforward to get it done.
