Should i really go with the AEM EMS?

The more i think about it the more i wonder if i should drop the money and go with the AEM EMS with the Wide Band 02 and Gauge for 2450 installed and dynotuned at Turbo Trix. I dont think i will ever go past the leval of bolt ons on my car. I think i will stay with stock cams turbo etc.. But who actually flashes these computers well and for a fair price is the question? Or should i just say screw it and get the AEM. Well i just ordered the full 3in Ultimate Racing Turbo back, 255lb pump, and Hallman MBC so the next round of ordering is waiting to be done upon what is told to me here. If you have thoughts you dont want to share openly please email me at bmwe30@hotmail.com or PM me. Also i'm located in Connecticut if you can refer me to anywhere for my best tunning.

Thanks
JB

It's probably overkill, yes. TT can also give you a flash, for a fraction of what it costs to get a standalone. The AEM EMS is really only something you need if you're a serious tuner/racer. It's certainly nice to have, and offers you a high degree of adjustability. Which is perfect for people who experiment with parts, swapping things out, and don't mind tuning and retuning. This also probably means you spend a lot of time at the track. If that doesn't sound like you, a flash or at most a piggyback is probably plenty to make you happy.

I agree with the Hatorade, he is only going to do minor mods exhaust, bc and fuel pump. A flash of your ecu will be the best bet, TT does one and so does Al (dynoflash). Save your $2500 bucks and spend it on something else. go with a reflash of your ecu.

I'm going to get a tune from TT, but if I was going to do anything else it would have been to buy an EMS and then get that tuned by TT

see, i don't even know much about the evo and i could tell you it was overkill.

now, someone explain flashes to me while we are discussing them. in the 300zx world, we sent our ECU to Jim Wolf Technology and had their performance chip saudered on. what is a flash exactly? and do you have to get it reflashed after every mod? or just major things like cams and fuel injectors? thanks for the heads up guys. tryin to learn as much about the EVO as i can before i buy one in the next couple of weeks.

A flash is basically tunning the factory ECU to the new mods that you've added to the car. You adjust the a/f where is needed to make more power. Usually you'd only need to get reflashed if you do major things. Simple little mods aren't going to be needed to get flashed again. I am not an expert so I probally left some things about about flashing, i'm sure there is more too it than that, but atleast now you have a basic idea.
