not exactly a build thread per say, although i do have pictures when i assembled the car.. but its more of a thread so people can follow what im doing with my car.

i do all my own work, so i have a lot of interesting pics ill share.. not like some others on here where they build their own parts, im not that gifted lol.. but i can atleast share some cool pics with you guys.

heres whats currently going on with my car:

with 500whp i took the car to the track, and it went 11.215 @ 128.69. (88F) (3300lb race weight) Problem was the 3rd gear kept grinding everytime i tried to shift into it, so i got fed up with it, and pulled the transmission, and sent it to Shep. I hope Shep can get it done in time for the shootout, if not im gonna wish i sent it to Dan @ Buschur Racing.. He got Scotts done in 48 hrs!!!!! and Scotts shifts like a dream. If they cant get it done in time i will just have them send it to Buschur i guess..

Here are those retarded slips:

This is all with 18psi in the slicks.. yes another dumb move.. what can i say it was my only 3rd time ever being at a drag strip.. im a newbie and still learning.

The slip in the middle the car refused to shift into 3rd and 4th gear.

But here is what im changing on my car.

Ported stocker to a toxic fab ceramic coated exhaust manifold
A Map rev3 intake manifold to an AMS f1i intake manifold
A stock 65mm TB to a 70mm Full blown
A Forge type RS bov to a Tial Q bov
Refreshed Shep trans again to cure 3rd gear grind / Syncro failure.

And possibly kelford 272 to GSC s3's depending on what i see with the gains on the above. or maybe a BF cam.

The goal for the car at this time is 650WHP dynojet in vd and 140MPH trap speeds with atleast anything under 10.5.

I might have to cage the car to do this, im not sure yet.. but if so thats ok, ill just get something done like evodan has in his car where you can barely tell the cars caged..

Heres how my car was last sitting. I changed my SSR d5r's to FQ400 wheels. I will get these powder coated after I kill the tires on them off, but for now they will stay roughed up. (dont mind the lip falling off LOL - i need to zip tie that.. it just sits in place.. stupid se lip)

Heres what it had before lol:

aftermath of running tires down to their wire:

$1000 tires ruined.. i will never pay that much for tires ever again. while the bridgestone potenza RE-11 were an awesome gripping tire, its just to much to pay for a straight line car.. i will go with something much cheaper next time since i dont even barely use the car for turns at all.

Heres how the engine bay sits at the moment:

I must say the build quality of both the AMS f1i and Toxic fab tubular exhaust manifolds are second to none.. Its amazing how well someone can fabricate stuff custom for these cars.. After the ceramic coating, you cant even see the welds on the toxic fab.. its absolutely beautiful.. and i feel its going to help top end out a lot! I am very excited to see the gains i get with both manifolds.

-----------

will update more later.

====================================
Update: 6/27/2012:

i never shared this before so i figured it would be cool to share to you guys. as my signature says i am sponsored by forced performance.. well i have something here that i plan on doing some crazy stuff with.. i would like to take the record but honestly dont think thats going to happen on a evo 8 head.

but this will be the turbo i attempt it with come winter:

has a speed sensor built into it so i can monitor shaft speeds so i dont completely grenade it first attempt.

Also just got my clutch back on the car

and something i really wasnt sure i wanted to do but did it anyways.. I bought gsc s3 cams.. i will be doing a comparison test with kelford 272 so others can see what the latest kelford 272 vs s3 do against each other.

now just waiting for my trans back and then i think im going to pull the driveshaft also and replace with a lighter one.

8-20-2012

most recent updates:

Car went 10.83 @ 133.16 on the kelford 272's and now it has GSC S3's making an additional 40whp more.

Here is the best pass on the kelford 272:

and heres how the car drives on speed density

id like to make it lighter. i think the next thing to make it lighter will be an aluminum driveshaft.

id like to have the car about 2800lbs with me in it, but i dont have much experience in weight reduction and i get lazy when it comes to that kind of stuff.

but i think the weight is eventually going to handicap the car, so ill eventually have to do something about it.

i really wanted to do comparisons on the parts i installed but i just felt like .. damn thats a lot of work! and bailed on it.. but i feel i have enough of data here as it is to see somewhat gains of what the parts actually do to my powerband and will share the data the best i can for others to benefit off of.

thanks.. ya i was gonna tear open the transmission myself also and attempt to rebuild, but honestly i think a transmission is harder to build then an engine.. and the engine required a lot of research before i did that, so i figured no way.. dont have time to research right now just so i can be assured its all done thoroughly and 100%.

just curiousity basically. i wanna see how much it gains over the map rev 3 or what it does to the spoolup curve and so forth.

If both the intake mani's have little effect on the spool and so forth i will swap to larger cams next.

one of my customers i was tuning was parting his car out and i got everything at a really good price.

i have a map o2 dump and stuff that im not going to use, but need to list for sale.

I also have a full blown tb replacing the stocker.

the parts are still here and if the gains are not existent the manifold may go back on the car, but i honestly think theres going to be semi large gains with the 2.3L and this big intake manifold.

A test between the 2 mani would've been sick to see differences. I'm sure it'll make gains over the rev 3 but at the cost of how much spool is the question.

btw, I have the map 02 dump. makes a significant difference

Looking good.

We just did another intake test a few weeks ago at the SCC Race we did here. I still have an AMS F1 sitting on my desk I need to test took, that will conclude every intake manifold built right now for the EVO's.

Good luck to you!

Thanks David!

I was gonna say if you didnt test the map rev 3 i can let you borrow it if you want. i dont really see it making much more then a ported stocker though since thats pretty much all it is.

I can still get an idea of the gains.. when we switched Scotts stock ported to a ams f1i he gained 20whp or so. so i expect a lot more then that because of the br 2.3 but i guess we will see. i wouldn't be surprised if it really doesn't effect the spool, it didn't on Scotts car and everything i read the bigger displacement engines really gain from bigger intake manifolds.

I've had a few of them on the dyno, the REV 3's already. I don't need one. Thank you though.
