ummmm big timing belt compartment that sticks out?? are you talking bout the cam pulley's cover?? the engine mount that bolts in just infront of this, you will need to reweld anyhow as it doesn't fit properly in a gsr, i had to do mine. I just had it adjusted a little lower so the engine sits a little lower in the bay, with this you can run the factory bonnet, but i have an evo 3 one anyhow.

good to see you got your cut though, all the best with the conversion

FYI caltex has vortex 98 ron fuel now. I have found it the best for performance and economy

good luck with the conversion

THanks guys and gals ! Yaah so far so good with the taking apart the engine business... we are almost up to the stage of getting the engine out of the old bay, then we'll take all the little pieces off and make them nice and "clean"...

Not sure if i want to reweld engine mounts.. being a critical kinda point that holds it all together.
Might just get the old hammer out an make a few minor adjustments to the bonnet hehe

Cheers

A frind of mine just did the same conversion and he had engine mount problems aswell, he was telling me that engine mounts off a hiundi sonata (i think) will bolt strait in and lower the engine enough to get the bonnet on. I will ask him and get back to you.

Ok well nearly done with cleaning out the new engine, man the japanese ppl sure breathe in alot of muck. When i took the air con blower motor out there was black metallic powder all over it (2mm thick!).

Another strange thing is when I rang up just car insurance, their idea of agreed value of a evo 3 conversion is $5500 for comp

I think something went wrong with the quote.

Don't forget that the Evo3 has a compression ratio of 9:1 which is fairly high for a high power turbo motor.... 98 octane fuel is a must.

Another groovy feature on the evo 3 cut is the rear window wiper! Well dont know how groovy it actually is, but i reckon thats cool.

I know that there is some weird aerodynamics on the lancer CC, all the water and dirt just sits on the back winow.

As far as I'm aware... you don't normally get rear windows with front cuts.

you will need to change the fuel tank, fuel lines from the tank match up the harness where it was cut on the half cuts. if the interior is there i would swap that over. basicly swap all parts other than body shell and doors also change boot floors. seen it done dosens of times on coupes hense why i didnt do mine (yet) did the engine though from carb to 2l T
