Project Car

Hey guys, i've finally decided that I need to boost my car, both in appearance and performance. I have a budget of around 3 - 4 grand, and there are many things i'd like to get, i have a 95 CC lancer, 1.5 carby, how can i boost my performance with out buying a turbo? also anybody know a good place around sydney for full retrim? i'll consider a turbo if i can find one for a good price, but i also want to get it lowered and a respray so i think i'll run out of money pretty quickly. any ideas on where i can get some of this around sydney or any other ideas on what i can do?

to increase hp for cheap try to modify the intake and exhaust. examples: cold air intake, header, exhaust, bigger or multiple carbs. more expensive stuff would be higher compression pistons, stroke and or bore it out. also you can get a lot of hp for cheap with nitrous, but its not a good idea if the engine has a lot of miles on it.

Sorry dude, but I think u'll have trouble gettin a full respray alone for 3G (unless u do it urself) espeacially adding a kit + decent engine work. From what I can establish, trimmin ain't cheap either. My mate got a quote of $800-900 for Vinyl trimming an extra-cab Hilux. Sorry to say it, but I think u need to up the budget, or lower plans.
Good luck anyways.... Hope u proove me wrong

Thanks for the feedback, as for the respray thing, my best friends dad does spraywork, all i have to do is pay for the paint, he got his use resprayed with custom black flames on the front for $200. I forgot to mention the exhaust has already been done, dunno what size it is off the top of my head. I've been looking at the parts rexhunta has for sale, would this go well? its got a fair amount of miles on it (roughly 140 i think) for a 7 year old car, will this be a problem with a turbo?

I had a 1.5L carby 4 door Lancer way back...hahaha. Anyway I put some good headers on it and did the whole exhaust, and it went very well. I almost put the Mivec engine in the car, you don't know how close I came. But in the end I decided to get another car. A option which I would investigate would be getting the heads off another engine, therefore making the engine bigger in size hence more power. It will be hard to do anything on such a tight budget. Unfortunately the 4G15 carby engine was never made for performance in mind. Could you do an engine swap yourself, if so you could pick up a GSR engine with everything for around $800 in good condition and put that in.

Yeah, I figured u might be gettin an inside job (Paint). I wish I had a painter contact. I need some slight panel work (backed into a 1 foot-high brick fence, after a trip to the titty bar- my mind was elsewhere) and a spray n fit to an EVO V front and rear bar (Yet to be bought) The only thing stopping me from turning mine into a real mean machine at the moment, is F#*king insurance!
