MIVEC dyno figures!??
MIVEC on a dyno!? | Mar 29, 2003 03:29 PM
Im currently thinking about fitting the MIVEC 4G92 into a lancer cc model.
130kw's and a 8500rpm redline really got my attention.
I found out for a fact that car companies, when dynoing there new engines for the first time, use 'cheat tricks' to sqeeze out a few extra kw's out of the engine but in normal drivability in a car is much less. For eg -
for those of you that know about the 4AGE 20V engine for toyota's would know that they are 119kw factory rated. But this is only what toyota claim! Put one of these on a dyno and you will see no more than 108kw's!
Which is still alright but i would want to believe that the engine im buying is what they say it is and not discover later on that it has less kw's!
So would just like to know if anyone has put they're MIVEC 4G92 on a dyno or if they've seen one on a dyno and if they have papers to prove that they r 130kw's to go ahead and post.
And please dont tell me to consider forced induction as this is totally out of option as i want to have one of the qikest naturally asp motors with a few more extra mods to add to it.
If you know anything about with what i am asking or if u just have a story or 2 about these motors...post away!
Thanks

Forgot to mention that figures above are all flywheel power.
So if anyone can tell me the actual flywheel figures for a MIVEC engine (the ones that bolt straight into cc lancer, dont get mixed up with ce lancer mivecs) what they are at flywheel or at wheels please tell me, and if ur sure of these figures cos uve seen them on a dyno. thanks!

how quick would this make a cc coupe go ? like 0-100 kms in how many seconds and how fast over a quarter mile?
how much would it cost to put this mivec engine in your car and would there be anything else you would have to change?

my mate said in another forum:
''yes in the cc model lancer the mivic engine will drop in as sweet as gold and evrything will work fine....
and yes it does pump some ***...... also if you are not intrested in that you can buy the mivic head and put it on the 4g93 block so you have a 1.8L dohc mivic..... which be a sweet little toy....... i found all this out after i moded my engine or els i would have done one of these mods, so i missed out. but if i had the same choice i would have saved and baught the mivic.....
if you can afford it trust me. do it. i have a 4g93 with extractors zaust cai and that all you can do to it unless you tubo it. all but it would have cost over $1000. you can get a mivic and computer for 1500, but then you need the exhaust... ALL UP BOUT 2GRAND NOT INCLUDING LABOUR.... but then you have a sweet littel pocket rocket....
although my car is "quick" and i say that in the the respects to other lancers, you will still get blown by anythning with real power, or vtec.''
The cc model mivec engine is about $3500 for a half cut...
has anyone ever driven these mivecs? they came out in the cyborg mirage...

not sure of power but i dont think it would have the same characteristics such as a redline of that high as the full mivec engine.
anyone driven one of these? what have u blown or kept up with?
do they go alright?

hey guys, i am driving a malaysian proton wira which is a clone of japan cb lancer.
car was equipped with a 1.5 sohc engine which was repalced by the mivec 4g92 from cyborg r mirage 4 door 93 model.
whole conversion was perfect fit.....right dto the dashboard, transmission and even the suspensions.
any body have ideas on what air filter configurations i should use for this engine?
any other mods to help improve power please?
Hey Sandman, I have done a lot of research on the Mivec head conversion for the CE 4G93 1.8L SOHC engine, and to tell you the truth it is simply not worth it. If anyone out there can tell me other wise please do, as I would love to know more but from all the time I have put into this subject I can not see it being a viable option. Don't get me wrong it can be done, but the costs involved are simply not worth it.
The mivec engines only produce around 100 - 110hp at the wheels with a programmable computer tuned properly in australia due to fuel and other reasons which is around 100 - 110kw at the flywheel - no where near the claimed 130kw. This we have proven all the time.
We just finished a 1.8 lancer with camshafts, piggy back computer, rampod air cleaner, rpw race extractors and took it from 86kw to 125kw at the flywheel.
If you have the 1.5 engine then the mivec is a good option but otherwise if you have teh CC Lancer go for the 4G93 DOHC engine, if you have a CE Lancer then definitly go the 4G93 SOHC and modify it for great results.

I have a Mivec Cyborg which i've had for 3mo so i've only done sounds and pod filter.
I found the best way to install the pod filter was to plumb it into the bumper as this gives the greatest intake and the coldest air.
I also have been looking at putting the4g93 block on but using the DOHC turbo block and keeping the turbo, YEAH MIVEC AND BOOST, but have been warned by a few people. 1.the valves may open up to far and knock against the piston. 2. apparently the 4g93 block maybe taller and the head may be shorter than the Mivec 4g92 so when you put the 4g92's tall head and the 4g93's tall block together, even though they both have the same timing belts originally, the two together push the bottom pulley to far down and you can't find a timing belt to suit. So if anyone out there has a 4g93 and can take the Timing cover off and measure the distance from the head gasket to the pulley that would be much appreciate.
But I know of someone in the South Island, N.Z. who has done it but I can't get in touch with him, but he didn't go turbo but the should be no difference between the two except the pistons.

I went to the drags and the FTO came along as planned, but HEY GUESS WHAT he informed me (and we checked) that it was not MIVEC. It was the V6 engine with 5speed, without MIVEC.
His times were extremely consistent @ 16.1 average.
His MPH was 88mph.
Sorry I can't report on a MIVEC V6 for you. Thought this machine would have been faster than that all the same, a standard 1.8 Lancer 4G93 is pretty much onto one of these jiggers.

Yes the Mivec is a great Swap for the 1.5 CC Lancers
My mivec Dyno 110hp at the wheels with out a tuning and been basically dropped straight in as it was in the Half cut running every thing stock (air filter so on). Hoping to get more out of the mivec with a proper Dyno tuning and some aftermarket parts.
Should be Dyno turned by end of next week
