Angry Insurance

Anyone from Australia with turbo lancers had problems with mods and their insurance agencies. Im paying through the a** for my insurance and thjey wont let me do any mods. So my question is which insurance agencies is the least expensive and the least strict on mods?

Cheers

$7500 to insure a 1999 Evolution VI

I can mod to my heart's content as long as I tell them what I do.

That seems extremely expensive Sunder, I am not sure of your make up (age, location, etc) but a insurance broker should be able to attain a much lower rate than that.

95Lancer......... to answer your question

I am insured with Shannons, I have a Lancer Gli 1.8 coupe with supercharger and no other mods at all.

The premium is $623.00, there has to be some advantages of being 35 or more. Their first quote to me was $824.00 which I was not happy about, however we have the car insured for replacement value minus the supercharger kit. This then comes to $17000 insured value. If the supercharger kit was added and agreed value (25 000) was the issue then the premium was $824.00. So there you have it, you must discuss in detail what you want or need and it can make a significant difference.

Hope this helps

25, male, and in one of the highest car theft suburbs in Australia.

I'm paying a bit less with a 55% no claim, but damn... It's still a lot of money.

i'm 18, still on my P plates, i lost 6 demerit points and got a $350 fine in one hit by goin 150km/h in a 80km/h zone (in my old car which was a CC Lancer GLXi Coupe) and i have a 1995 GSR Turbo with an evo 3 bodykit and i only pay $1700 a year... although the car is registered under my mums name and i'm on her insurance as the second driver.

Im 18 with a MR lancer and my pre is 1100 with a 20% no claim bonus through NRMA. They let me do any mod except for engine eg: turbo, supercharger but bodykits, rims, air filters, exhaust and other bolt ons are cool as long as i tell em.
In a year ill be changing to Just Car insurance when i turbo it cause they allow all mods and crazy drivers that have dangerous driving records and stuff but up the premium.

I got a quote on a sr20det silvia and the pre was about $3500 or $3000 for non turbo version. They allow mods but it works like this. First major mod increases pre a litlle bit. Then next 4 are free and then everyone after that ups it a little bit. I was 17 when i got that quote and it goes down every year. But Over 25 year olds have a huge advantage in the premium dept.
