A Please Explain over Raptors 1/4 time

Hello everyone, I was reading bits and pieces tonight and I stumbled over this http://forums.fastfours.com.au/viewt...e39bdda1a5f46c

Now I was not too happy when I read this, but I kept my thoughts to myself. I just wanted everyone here (most importantly Raptor) to be able to have a look and voice their opinion on the subject. I am 100% behind Tim as I know him quite well, and I think as a group we should put these claims to rest.

Possibly we could all go down to a strip and have a run sometime and post up our times here. Power through our actions!

I don't know WHY people quote manufacturer stated times against track-run times. What exactly is the quote 1/4 time for a 2000 4door lancer? I ran 16.65s at Benaraby raceway.. sure I have a cat-back exhaust (just TRY telling me that does ANYTHING other then noise), but that was with at LEAST 30kg of stereo gear cluttering the boot.. and 16' wheels.

WHERE this DVSGTI deadbeat gets "try a 17.6 for a stock ce lancer" is beyond me. My mate has a CC coupe (1.8L EFI) with the same mods.. cat-back & 16"s, and he ran 16.0 & 16.1 on consecutive runs! A bet half the fools who say it BS, have never even run their cars on a real strip!

Basically these guys should pull their F*#kin heads in unless they ACTUALLY know what they are talkin bout.. not just SELF-proclaimed gurus!
Thats my 2c worth anyway.

I think you will find Vespa is refering to the fast fours forum link I posted (he started a thread on their forum). But the reason for his trouble was caused by stating figures off this forum. Fast fours members seem to have issues with Lancer and think of them as rubbish (unless Evo or GSR) which pisses me off.

yes, it pisses a lot of people off, thats why i usually only post in mitsi forums, as a lot of people dont understand potential of some of the engines we own..

Talking Time in question

Mmmm I have been over there and checked the situation out. Old mate Boogsey is the chief disclaimer and backed out when a challenge to prove me wrong was posted.

If he doesn't take up the challenge then he can't be believed. Pretty hard for these non-Mitsi people to take the facts as found at the dragstrip.

Would have to revert the car to back standard to prove him wrong now but it can be done!

Ahh what can I say but that Boogsey guy is a looser. One good thing Tim, is he will be going to Jamboree so I guess we can all meet up there and teach him a lesson. The supercharger will bring a lot of respect anyway. But who needs that "kid" to tell you what you can run.

Boogsey

Yeah he's quite the fellow!!

I have now put his ride under the microscope as I said I would and hes not liking the outcomes too much.

He doesn't seem to gell with the idea that he's running something with Mitsi designed powertrain anyway. Just too much to bear thinking about for him.

Yes I dont understand him at all, at the end of the day his car is a Mitsubishi, I dont care what the Proton boys say. I mean big deal the difference in the engines is DOHC, now I know I would like DOHC too but if I had it I would not be thinking it was the S#!t. I just shake my head at that poor boy and his faith in the Fast Fours magazine, ha ha ha, they do what they have to do to sell magazines, and if that mean stretching the truth well isnt that just "creative licence".

Also, you have more time slips for you Lancer right (running around the same time), post them up (on Fast Fours). These chumps do not know what they are doing.

Unhappy Time Slips

Mivec

We had a whole bunch of them with 16.4 being the slowest, I am pretty sure we have since discarded the rest and only kept the quickest one.

That is a very good point. I will get the missus to have a look for them, she will know for sure where they are/went.

Ahh tell me about it....sooo full of it. Come on it is a Proton get over it. To me Proton means old Mitsubishi technology, nothing more. Well actually old Mitsubishi technology all stuffed up, just look at the Persona or whatever it is, how can that come from a CC 4 door Lancer....what a disgrace.
