4G15C Upgrades..

Has anyone modded their 4G15 Carby's before ? im talking things like Cams, and upgraded carbys, port n polishing and stuff.. im looking at ways to slightly modify my lancer, just for a lil more oomph, without doing major swaps and the like,

I been offered a newer Cam for 300 bucks, and with putting that in, they'd say they give it a port n polish to match the cam as well, just wanting some opinions on this, before i put my effort into it..

And no, before anyone asks, just do a engine swap, because i do not want to ! I want to keep the 1.5 litre, just for the cars sake

Pete

Hi Pete, I can understand to a certain degree why you want to keep your engine. But at the same time there is a point where things should stop and we move on. Engines are not all that expensive for the CC Lancer and even a upgrade to the 1.8L SOHC would give you so many benifits at a very low cost. All up you would easily come in under $1000 fully fitted, for that price you could have a few mods too. Then for your engine you could get say $250 for a quick sale. Now for a max of $750 you would get at least 21kw gain, which I am sure everyone will agree is a very good bang for buck.

Now ok ok I can hear you saying "I dont realy want to go down that road", that is ok. I just thought I should tell you of that option, as it is not too expensive.

As far as tuning the 4G15 carb there is a little you can do but not a great deal. I remember when I had the CC Lancer and I had that very engine, I always was interested in making a good cold air feed. Doing cam and port work will up the power but to be honist Pete I dont know it it would be worth the money. I mean $300 is $300 I would hate for you to do the modifications and look back and think hmmm I should have gone down a different road. I know it is a hard decision and I have just made it harder, but I hope I at least gave you a little more to think about.

Hey Pete look what I found...

Lancer 1.8 EFI engine to suit 93-96
CC model. Comes with all electrical attachments on engine,
manifolds, dump pipe, leads, the lot. Also got the full front
assembly with crossmember, struts, rotors, cv's, brakes, even the
fuel tank. Heaps of spares. Does not come with gearbox or flywheel.
Will also fit a Proton and some Hyundais. Engine worked fine and
done 140k kms before it was taken out. Bargain at only $250 the lot.

So there you have it, I have seen a few cheap CC Lancer engines over the past 6 months or so.
