Engine knock (CC 4G15)
Engine knock (CC 4G15)
yer, gots me a bit of a knock in my engine, it's been doing it for a while but lately its gotten worse, even over 3000 revs it still does it. What could be the cause or what can I do to hopefully get rid of it? I was thinking carby overhaul, could the timing be out?
it's gotten worse since my dad decided to fill up my oil with the same **** he uses in his vans (which are like less than 2 years old), a little too synthetic me thinks.

Knock
I had a sound in the engine when accelerating like a knocking sound it came good after I did a service (New oil, spark plugs, oil and air filters) to my CC 4g15. But now I have the 4G92 Mivec in my CC no more knocking but I do have a second gear synchro problem now.
yeah I guess it came around the same time as after I had my 100k major service done. I too am now having problems with 2nd gear synchro (I know why though lol)
can't really afford an engine swap now or any time in the forseeable future :/

Adjust the timing to 2 degrees, and run premium.. it may cost a lil more, but trust me on this, no pinging, and no pre-ignites when you turn your car off.. a big problem for me sometimes..
rexhunta: my car has occasionally dieseled (kept running a bit) after i turned it off, hasnt really bothered me. When I had my car serviced, at least one of the mechanics who worked on it was a ********, the sump plug was loose, and the oil filter tightened too much.
would not suprise me one bit if he ****ed up putting a new timing belt on as well. I'm gonna get the timing checked out.

I rang mitsi, cause i took it to a *reputable* repairer, and it was pinging like ****, and kept pre ingnitting, and he did **** bout it, got it back and was still doing it..so i took it to a friend who is a mechanic, and told him to do this this and this, and its fixed.

would an engine knock be caused the oil being too synthetic? The pinging has pretty much gone away as I drive more (and the oil thickens with k's doesn't it?)
I dont really wanna have to run premium because I get fuel on my parents shell card (ohh how sweet it is), and if they see premium on the account I don't think it would go down well.

Im not sure about the engine knock, i guess try it..
Yeah, i said im using Premium only to work from now on, and i can book it
the joys of life sometime lol..
The bit of the engine igniting used to scare me sometimes, if you left it in gear when you turned it off, i've had it starting back up cause its pushed.. scary ****..

Anyone know how to get the car to stop running after its turned off?? I have heards its real bad for the engine... I find that mine doesn't keep going if I run on premium but when on unleaded the little carby bastard won't stop running haha... Anyone know how to fix this??
Is it knock or rod-knock, it came off to me as you heard it not datalogged it. The diesleing could be timing or carbon tracks. But if its rod knock, better go easy on it till you got the cash for a new engine.
