I'm a member of 4g63evolution. Really good forum (bit small though) heaps of tech backup from Chris and the boys at Meek Automotive. I recommened the forum for a Aussie view on all things Evo.

I just joined there, hope to keep in touch with a few Aussies still while I complete my new build. Also Jeff Denmeade is there and I need to pick his brains over the next 18 months if I want to complete my racing goals...

live in perth, evo 4 rs, i reckon evo oz are forum ***** also, they made me pay to post private evo parts for sale, they delete your forums because apaprently someone covered this god knows how long ago, then i have to pay again or there is a problem, either way i cant sell things again, which is fairy stupid really because their members may miss out on a good deal, any way this forum seems to have a lot of people who have tried a lot of different combos so a lot of good information here.

yeah unfortunately evooz is very strict on forum rules and if u do not abide by them then they eventually kick you out... which is fair enough as at the end of the day they own the forum.

as far as technical information evom has more of everything.

as far as meets, and social info is concerned evooz is definately better.... except the admins do not think that is the pirority of their site.

as far as vendor & for sale items is concerned. evooz is best if u want to sell something evo related in australia. plenty of members.

Again, people talking for our site.
Here's the real deal.

1. Evo Oz is owned and operated by a not for profit entity. The Admins don't make any money from the site, it is all ploughed back into Events like Nationals and the forum running costs of web hosting and skins. Unlike Antilag and ns.com as they make personal profit for their owner(s). Not a cent. In fact I have put personal dollars into last Nats and many WA events when people did not show and pay for track days. I have given away many parts items for free too.

2. Paid sellers - it's a privilege to sell on our site and to ensure contributors obtain this right, it is earned via post count and rep or $20 and rep (and it's financial year which gives you a year to get stuck in and help your post count up so you can sell permanently). We find this keeps down the issues of poor sellers/scammers or people coming on only to sell, and not contribute - down. Same as all other forums sites - they have a post count minimum. And Paid selling actually gives people a chance to sell without having to spam to get post counts up (which is what happens otherwise). And you lose if you don;t either post or pay as you lose a forum full of great, reliable buying members to sell to.

3. Knowing what the Admins of EvoOz think on priorities of the site! Wow, people should not speak upon that which they certainly do not know.
There are many social meets on in many states. In fact meets, show and shine and social things was the glue between track and khana events at our last Nats, massive dinner, but as you weren't there, you would not know. Social stuff is always on the forums and is a good thing, when it's not about running people off roads when on cruises and youtubing it up, or illegal street racing for profit. There are many social meets and events in many states and heaps of people participate socially on, they are for all also, and not a little private group. If it wasn;t a priority why are so many on? You really should read our aims of our forum again thanks.

4. Account signups, yes we ensure people are legit and reserve the right to ensure they are. If you supply incomplete info, don't read or follow the signup requirements, we can't tell you from a spambot, so we would rather not take a chance and prefer to keep spam off our board. If you have issues you should be constructive and email webmaster for help. If you are a making a duplicate account or a banned member trying to come back on, you will be caught and your registration won't be approved.

5. As we have a lot of JDM information in English many JDM-owning US people join for info that would otherwise only be in Japanese. So we may not be USA big, but we are the biggest and best in Australia. Our Vendors are all local and support the forum and have good records of trading and handling returns plus no Customs or tax hassles. Some other Forums in Australia run by for-profit companies are about advertising their products first and foremost. Evo Oz gives much better personal-memberbase advice without the owned-by bias or direct post removal on competitors products that goes on on a certain site.

6. As on all other forums I have seen, topics are merged to ensure they stay relevant and on topic and easy to find info on. Who indeed would bother to read 20-30 identical topics on say, the FP Green turbo? That's why posts and topics are put together. Another thing is some members won't browse or search topics before posting a new one, this is the reason why new topics that duplicate others - often active on the same day or week - are merged.
That's why people come into the forum in Australia, for local info in single topics, so they are much easier to find and read. Searching first berfoe asking in a new duplicate goes a long way.

7. All forums have rules of some kind, and people ignoring them or being antisocial or rude to Moderators and Admins won't last on any forum. Forum access is a privilege and not a right. I think you really can't have it both ways, be a member and bag out the forum you are a member on. Seems quite hypocritical.

People should get their facts straight first, this is all answered on the Forum Admin and Feedback section on Evo Oz too for all members, so check your facts and if you want to know, email webmaster@evolutionoz.net and join.

@ weightless7

You seem to have a issue with criticism don't you. I did try to join your forum, I'm a legit Evo owner, have spent over $4000 this month on evo parts and servicing. Pretty sure i'm exactly the kind of person your forum would want on board. But no, couldn't get a look in. Almost gave you a miss when you asked for a licence No, you have got to be kidding yourselves, in this day of ID theft. Anyway no luck getting on board. Glad I didn't bother. Your forum will die a natural death as the evo 1-9 start to disappear, no ones seems to like the X much and there won't be a 11, not in any form that anyone that would joins forum would like anyway. Your forum will die and no one will care. Just my opinion, don't hate me for it, but I'm sure you will!

^^ seems that way

@Fireescape
There's two sides to every story and when information posted isn't correct, it should be corrected.

So our forum "will a natural death as the evo 1-9 start to disappear, no ones seems to like the X much and there won't be a 11".. wow, so prob time that you sell up and unjoin evom, Meeks' forum and all Evo forums you are a member of right now.
Dude, that's a purely personal view, you just shot at all Evo forums and your observation/prediction aresn't actually bourne out by the continuation of earlier Evo models no longer manufactured, parts made for early Evo's and our forums attendance increasing 10-15% per annum.
Oh well as I said before, never let the facts get in the way ey..

And there's still plenty of life still in the Evo yet!

I have not bagged evooz merely gave my opinion based on facts, i just dont bother going on there any more which is a shame because aside from my posts constantly getting deleted i did actually talk to a few good people on there, any way as they have pointed out, their forum their rules if you dont like it dont use it so i dont use it.

anyway getting back on subject how many evo owners from perth here?

i have quite a few evo goodies i am trying to sell, turbo injectors forged internals cams etc if any one interested, set up was making 400kw@wheels only selling because i want more, ill be sending the engine to new zealand soon and most of the parts of they dont sell here, a lot more evo owners to sell to their.

Ok, your probably right. I guess the difference is that I'm a member of those forum and not of yours. Don't know why you would want less members. I'm sure you have your reasons. Your forum your rules. Sounds like what my dad use to say to me about living under his roof, hated that attitude then too!

I guess I don't know your forum so I shouldn't comment. But from my experience trying to join and the comments of others here and on 4g63evolution your forum doesn't sound friendly or open to criticism. I might be wrong. Anyway this forum as more than enough Aussies and all I really use forums for is for a bit of tech help and to post a few pics now and then (bit of a hobby). Seems EvoM is better than your forum for that anyway. Good luck to you sir. Have a nice day.

chris, as before i still dont understand the reason behind the license number in registration. we have had this conversation many times... but still dont get it. i hope we can have a constructive discussion about it.

as i see it, i have the following concerns
1) firstly and mostly you have no way of working out if a license number is real or not. so it does not stop someone from resigining up with a different and fake number. as has been proved many times by returning banned members.

2) storing license numbers opens up evooz and its directors to legal liability incase there was a breach of security. what makes it worse is that ppl dumb enough to put their real DL# will be the ones who also enter their real Age and Name... next is to workout their address and there u go identity theft done in 60seconds.

3) i remember Sydney Uni got in trouble for storing personal information in systems that were only password protected and accessible from internet. how is urs more secure. if u are just using the sql database used by IPBoard... how can u assure us that the version of IPBoard you are using has all the security patches applied and no known bugs exist...... (i say this as i was told you have a version of IPBoard which is not the latest)
