Bali Steering Wheels. trash or treasure?

heya,
do you guys trust bali steering wheels ?
i bourght 2 bali steering wheels for 100,000 roupes which is about 23 aussie dollars and about 12 u.s dollars. i also picked up a mitsu boss kit for 10 aussie dollars... ($6 u.s)...

its a good deal if they work.. they look alright. $32 Aus ($17 u.s) for 2 stearing wheels and a boss kit. has anyone had experience with these dodgy things? ill post some pics later.

also do i have to keep writing the exchange rate of aussie to u.s or do most of you fellas in america know the dollar rate?

Most Bali steering wheels are shocking....comparing to Australian standards.

The regular sw design consists of a metal bar frame and a timber surround. 90% of Bali sw's have a full timber frame, the timber quality is not that great either....meaning MAJOR bending.

Don't know about the boss-kit though....but wouldn't be suprised if the quality is the same.

Best thing to do would be to hook it up and see how it feels.
If it isn't as 'secure & sturdy' as you would like it...chuck it and live with the fact that your $32 went down the drain.

Best of luck.

Evoposer,
Steering wheels look sweet. I had a similar one like your blue/black one. Blue mitsu symbol? heh, looks kinda cool.

Namllo,
A boss-kit is an "adaptor" for the after-market steering wheel.
The stock sw (for our lancers) is bolted down with one single nut&bolt.
Aftermarket sw's mainly have a 5-bolt pattern (small bolts) and the boss-kit 'converts' the single bolt to a 5-bolt.

I just installed an Autotechnica wheel on the weekend, black and blue. I bought it from Autobahn. It's pretty sweet. I think it's easier to drive with the smaller wheel. SOOOOOO much more comfy than the stock wheel.

Talking momo

yeah i agree, Autobarn sells some good ****. I bought a MOMO COMMANDO steering wheel with a Boss kit all for $230. I haven't installed it yet coz they ordered me the wrong Boss kit, listen to this, they gave me a Boss kit for a Porsche.

But yeah I like them steering wheels. Nice tight leather, precise grip and feel and that MOMO button, ohhhh. I cant wait.

So far I have got 17s on my lancer, ALPINE stereo system (no SUBS), muffler, and a BLITZ bodykit. (looks like the Green ECLIPSE from FAST & FURIOUS) with an EVO wing.

"how long did your steering wheel last for ? what year is your coupe ? any mods?"

I kept it on for about 5-6 months. I wanted to buy a new (Australian sold) sw simply coz of the fact that the Bali one bent all the way back - close to the sw column!! - with little effort. It's pretty scary to think that if you get a collision front on, the sw isn't gonna help one bit in stopping you being thrown forward.

I've got a '99 CE model. Just the regular simple mods...2 1/4" exhaust and K&N Air Filter - got an EVO5 kit on it too, with 17" rims.
(Rice galore, I know, but I like it)
Plan on the simple bolt-on upgrades - just to keep me 'satisfied'. Then later on sell it and get a GSR-turbo or a Supra.

How about yours - mods? future plans?

I had to get my dad to hold the indicator canceller in place with some pliers through the middle of the boss kit while I got it (the boss kit) in place. I also checked that it worked before putting the actual wheel on. You might have to take it all off and try again.
Did you move it to fit the boss kit in place? Why did u move it?
