Post 1.6lt - 1.8lt or 2.0lt Lancers - WHY?

Just interested in hearing accross the board from those who have one or have maybe tried more than one and are able to describe the advantages of one over the other.

I got 1.8. Not as much power as an EVO but with some mods, it can hold its own.

i got 1.8, i wish it was more powerful, lol apparrently the 2 litre is heavier and loses power because of it, and the 1.5L well thats just slow, unless its a mirage 1.5 vs a lancer 1.8, pretty sure the mirage would win with less weight...

Surely the 2.0 more than compensates the extra weight by the extra 0.2 litre capacity though? Even if it doesn't, mods would respond better to a poorly tuned 2.0 than a factory highly tuned 1.8 (IE, if the 1.8 puts out almost as much power as the 2.0, it's already had a lot of power squeezed out of every last corner, so mods aren't going to be as effective)

I have a 2.0L Lancer... It just happens to have a turbo running 16 pounds strapped to it, and it's attached to a 4WD drive train.

I can tell you without a doubt, that it kicks the butt of a both 1.6 and 1.8L lancer

ok i apologise, i wasnt meaning the evos but the new model lancers, ES or LS i think they are called which are front wheel drive...but then i guess if its 2 litre, then strap a turbo on it and itll be like an evo, my question is tho, is the new model lancers motor a 4g63 since its a 2.0L ...anyway im sorry, think the drinks got to me last night, hehe but yeh, the more capacity the motor, surely the more power it can handle

the new lancer is a 4g94 which is SOHC where as the 4g63 is DOHC.i reckon a 1.8 lancer coupe would beat a 2.0 lancer.

Hey mate, I was just kidding, I wasn't actually having a go at you. Sorry if you thought I was.

Cheers.

I believe in the early days of this forum stock for stock someone raced a 1.8 Mirage and lost with their 2.0 lancer. Even though the lancer has 8 more HP and slightly higher torque, the weight differential is too much to overcome stock.

As for modded, nobody knows yet.

I got a 2.0L

I've seen some Mirages fly past me once or twice though (I wasn't racing them - but I'd like to some stage).

I'd seriously be afraid to run my mate's Mirage against my Evo! He's putting down 150 to the wheels with 300kg less than my Evo.

The only advantage I have is 10 extra kilowatts and the extra traction!
