Thank you FedEX...

Ordered an unused AMS i/c from a member of the forums. The i/c was taken to a shipping place to be packaged. They didn't do the greatest of jobs and fragile was marked nowhere on the box. Then I guess FedEx Ground decided "Hey this is a big and heavy item, let's kick the sh*t out of it!!!" Here are the pics, luckily this thing is built like a friekin' tank. Also, has anyone with the AMS i/c weighed theirs? This thing is pretty heavy, no complaints, just an observation. The brackets were all pretty bent, the top more than the other two but it was still a pain in the a$$ to get this thing all aligned so it wouldn't hit on the driver's side inside portion of the bumper support beam.

You can press "charges" because your item came in a diffrent state from when it left its first location...if no, get out the hammer.

looks nice... my Greddy fmic was packed like yours except mine had a cardboard cover on it for extra protection. Interested to see how much the AMS weighs, the Greddy R spec is 12 lbs.

I weighed the i/c at the big FedEx hub here where I live when I went there to show them the damages to the unit and it came to 19.60lbs. I was just wanting to see what others who have this i/c have weighed it at to verify that it is indeed a real AMS intercooler. Yeah I was pretty freaked when I saw all the foam peanuts before I realized the endtanks were capped. Spent a good half hour picking bits of them out of the fins...

Cool, just called up AMS, man those guys are really cool about stuff like this btw, and they said that their i/c comes in at right about 20lbs so it looks like I got the real thing. Any comments from others who have seen or own the AMS i/c would be greatly appreciated. As far as putting in a claim I just don't have time to wait for that and the guys at the big FedEx hub I live buy said that dealing with FedEx Ground on such issues is like pulling teeth and all they would say is that it was the packing company's fault.

Well that Tab on the top is bent down. thats why its hitting the frame. The dent on the core itself really shouldnt Hurt anything. You deffinetly want to get those inlet and outlet pipes taken care of. you can send it here and we can weld on new pipes for you. I dont think the cost will be all that high.

Same EXACT thing happened to me when I ordered my IC from buschur racing, they did a great job of packing it, however UPS sucks ***, and they must have been playing football with the box as both the inlet/outlet pipes were bent in HALF. I sent it back to buschur, UPS took 4-5 weeks just getting it to buschur (should have taken 3 days), and the guys at buschur fixed it up no problem, then sent it back to me. Again, UPS must have thrown it around, i open the package, same problem, outlet pipe is bent in half. However this time i took it to a localshop to get it fixed, as UPS took forever to get it sent back to them...

shipping companies suck..

I would be so pissed if that happened to me. At least you got it installed correctly.

thats a really funny story....CAUSE THE EXACT SAME THING HAPPEND TO ME this week. i ordered an intercooler from AMS 2nd day air.

Eric was a pleasure to deal with and the intercooler was shipped out promptly. I received it....opened it and was quite impressed with the packaging...and then i saw it.....one of the pipes coming off of the endtank was bent up......I guess i can steal your thread and title it "THANK YOU UPS...." cause someone had to have either dropped it or thrown it pretty hard to bend the pipe like it was..........

anyway i called AMS and told them about it and because i was in a hurry for the piece i had to overnight another intercooler...but they were out of stock.....so eric agree'd to give me a refund for the intercooler.

Just to sum up my experience with AMS......what happend with the intercooler was not their fault and definately unfortunate.....but i just want everyone to know they handled it very professionally and as far as AMS goes i am very satisfied with them as a company and i know i will be ordering from them again.........

cheers.

Yeah, fedex seems to poo on lots of people lately, when i got my fidanzas the box was caved in at all sides. If Chris hadn't packaged them well I'd be F'ed in the A. Thats why lately I've been gettin' down with the doo-doo brown.
