I guess I should have tried to do it with the bumper on. I looked at the hose clamps and decided it would be easier to install with the bumper off. Anyways, taking the bumper off was cake, the undertrays took forever though with all those cheapo plastic screws.

Noticeable gains.

I just finished installing mine in auto shop today. It took all of about an hour to complete. I wound up taking off the right half of the bumper so I could get to the hanger for the stock LICP. After that, installation was a breeze. The undertray easily took longer to take off than it took to install the pipe.

It seems a little quicker, I cant really tell that well. It definately seems to pull a little harder. I dont know if its just a psychelogical thing or if it actually is pulling harder. Im getting the car flashed on april 12th so well see what happens.

car should be faster after "hotside" lower intercooler pipe... "coldside" is the side that leads to the throttle body.

I have this LICP as well. Its really hard to tell if there are any gains, but the pipe compared to stock does not neck down as much. I think that it spools a little bit quicker. Hopefully the airflow is improved a bit.

The key to the install is:

1. Do not remove the front bumper. Remove the undertray.

2. You need a ratcheting type box wrench. It make the factory LICP pipe bracket bolts easier to get at.

3. Remove the coolant resivoir (only 2 bolts), much easier to reach the stock bracket bolt from above.

Other than the above hints, it's an easy install.

Thanks for the tips, as I'm going to place an order of the AMS LICP for my IX later this week. The AMS LICP comes with everything needed for installation or is there anything that I would need (clamps or anything) to install it?

Thanks a lot.

Removing the bumper can be much easier job. it only takes me 3 mins to take off my bumper after 5 mins of under tray removal. But, I have done this like 10 times already.

All the clamps and couplers are included. I would suggest getting a few T-bolt clamps for the 45 degree coupler at the IC. Once you get that bumper on, blowing one of those clamps off really sucks.

I was under the impression not to use t-bolt clamps as the aluminum piping will be crushed easily if I overtighten it, but I guess I could use one for IC side. What size t-bolt should I get for that?

this is also what I thought. Also, really didn't see any gains on dyno from switching LICP. Although, different day, different results. Nice product.

Don't mean to get off topic.

If you live in Culver City Ca. that's where I was born.

Ok fans carry on with your LICP disscussion.

I just might have to buy one of those AMS LICP's .

Funny thread, but seriously:
Does the AMS LICP fit the IXs?

For some reason, Buschur says their LICP won't fit the IXs properly. I purchased and installed the Injen LICP and it JUST fit. The section of the pipe that connected to the turbo outlet was kinda short and the included coupler BARELY connected the two.

For the haters in the thread,

There IS a part that bolts to the turbo not shown here. The stock unit is very small and abou 1.75" in diameter, most companies do not offer this in their kits as the turbo attachment is under the car and a severe pain in the a$$ to get at.

There are two LICP, the turbo side and the intercooler exti/ throttle body entrance side.

The AMS part shown right now, is the left side, which you would be standing in front of the car looking at the hood to see it like that.
