awd please
awd please
I bought a used evo 8 a while back, and in my hast failed to realize the rear leg of the drive train that connects to the rear diff was missing!!!
My question is,
1. am i damaging the car futher by leaving it FWD
2. If I buy a used third leg will that be all that is required to restore AWD.
3. And if i would need to do more, what??
thanx in advance -bravo

Buy a drive shaft and connect it to the rear diff. See what happens. No one here can diagnose anything else without more info and/or pictures. If you want my guess, Id say they disconnected the drive shaft because of a rear diff issue.
I think the bigger issue here is you buying a fwd Evo without noticing....

yeah im the same guy..... i won the suite but they only cut me cash for what the part would be worth.....
being that i was going for so much more
as for not knowing it wasnt AWD, another prob was it didnt have a boost selenoid at first either so i was only runnin wastegate pressure. barely enuff torque to get the tires loose... +im am a newbie to turbo cars in general
Be easy i feel ****ty bout it already

Ok, no problem. My advice would be since your new to turbos, and cars in general (mechanically), find a good local shop and go over the entire vehicle. Ask to look it over with them, you will learn alot and get a better idea of what is all missing from the car.
Or ask local Evo owners to check it out. Im sure someone would lend a hand.

Having built 2 FWD mirages, and an AWD mirage, i can tell you that the car will not run FWD reliably without having the center diff welded in the tranny, if its not welded, the car will Eat the viscus coupling, you can tell if its doing this by the way it accelerates, if you start off and the car is totally pathetic (similar to having a dead clutch), then the diff is not welded, and chances are that by now you've ruined the viscus, you might as well plan on buying a new tranny to get it straightend out or talk to Jon @ TRE and he may give u a better solution, if the diff was welded then you'll also basically be looking to replace the Tranny, either way it sounds like at least you'll be changing that
