AMS Spark Plug Cover

I recently purchased this item and it still has polishing residue in the edges of the lettering. How do you recommend I remove this caked on stuff without marring the finish? I've tried soaking it in hot water/dish soap and even rubbing alcohol.

I've used a toothbrush and it marred the surface. I've also tried cotton swabs. Guess I'll have to try the toothpick idea.
