AMS 30r
Thanks for the offer buddy!
but i actually want to keep my 35r when i do my 2.2 Tomei stroker.
just though i could slap in a 30r until i build a new block.
Eric how much of a difference are we looking at power between the 0.63 and the 0.82. I am sure the top end is affected by he hotside right.
i will do some more searching on the 30r
Thanks for the input Eric
Well the plan is to go with a 2.2 L with a 35r
that way you got the best of both worlds!!
rev to 9k and little bit more torque!
Ideally i would like the JUN 2.2 But holy **** .......$ 6000 is big greens!
Isn't the Tomei pretty pricey? Have you asked if AMS can build a 2.2 for you? I was speaking with Greg at GSC and he mentioned that the 2.2 would spool like the 2.3 but carried more torque up top.
Can AMS shed some light on my question here.
I Have an AMS GT35r kit, and i think i made the wrong decision in purchasing this turbo.
Initially I though i wanted outright power but things have changed and i would like a more drivable car...
I have been reading and checking some logs and the 35r is gonna be a bit to laggy for my liking on a 2L.
now my issue is this, can i purchase a separate turbo from you guys (30r) and will this turbo fit my existing 35r kit.
What AR does the AMS 30r turbo kit come with, and can i get a 0.82 or will only the 0.63 fit . I know AMS uses the 5 bolt housing and turbos come from precision and they make a 3076 in a 0.82.
if later on my plans change and i get a 2.2 stroker i will use then use my 35r.
but at this point in time i enjoy a quick spooling car, not willing to have a 2500rpm power band.
Care to provide some info ERIC!
Thanks

I got a 30r off the AMS kit sitting here for sale if you wanted to go that route (upgraded to 35r)
i am not hurry to do it yet.
2.2 give you the best of both worlds
the extra torque and the ability to rev to 9k
but still i love the 2L always eager to rev
OK here we go
The 30R and 35R will be a direct swap. the only thing that might need to changed is your intake pipe depending on what sort of engine management.
As far as A/R housings go keep in mind we use the PTE housing which are rated better then the Garrett. The PTE .63 housing we use is PERFECT for an evo and I really would not recomend going with anything bigger. Honestly the Garrett .82 is going to spool very similar to that GT35R .63 housing.

I have seen all sort of 30Rs come through the dyno at Tuning Tech. If you don't get an efficient one (.63 A/R), you will see spool up be very similar to the 35R, but will lose the big power potential. Listen to Eric on this one.

Good luck with your future build, you have the same plans in mind as I do.
