Need Help-Going to Toronto
Hey you Cannucks =P
I'm from Chicago and im planning to make a drive over to Toronto sometime within the next two months. I'll be coming into Canada from Detroit. Problem is, I'm a total newbie when it comes to international traveling, so I need a few tips and information on how to get there and the things/documents I need when crossing the border. Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys ^^

If you use your atm card, the conversion is done for you. Or you can carry American cash with you and get it converted at a bank.
If youre an American citizen, take a passport...sometimes they dont ask for one.
If youre a naturalized citizen take youre Alien card... they'll ask you for that!
And like was said before ...401.. go EAST
Enjoy! I usually go there every summer...love the women!!
eh!
make sure you have an Id also with the above.

I use to be able to cross with just my driver license years ago, but they wanted to see my passport a month ago. So bring that with ya, you dont want to drive back because they wont allow you in.
Alright guys, my first drive into Toronto will be this weekend. Ill be there around Friday afternoon, so if you guys are planning a meet, I will probably stop by. Let me know!
This website has good info on crossing the border:

You will need your official birth certificate and a drivers license at a minimum to get across. If you have a passport that will make it much easier.
Using an ATM card while visiting a foreign country is always the best way to go as far as getting cash. VISA and Master Card have the power to negotiate favorable exchange rates. Banks and exchange offices would probably be the second best choice followed, followed from a very great distance, by hotels and what not.
I’m sure you are an upstanding individual and are not really going to need this piece of advice, but don’t try to bring drugs or anything like that into Canada or the US. Being arrested in a foreign country is non-trivial, even if the country is Canada.
You may want to verify your insurance converge on your car to make sure everything is cool with that. It probably ok, but you want to be sure.
Best wishes and have fun. Toronto is a really fun town with lots of neat stuff to see. If you are into racing there are a couple of cool stores with F-1 and WRC stuff.
