Best way to lower my ES... need help

Right now I am looking for the best way to drop my OEM Lancer. I would love to get a set of Tein S Tech springs, but all the ones I have seen are for the EVO, and I know they don't fit properly. I have seen sets from Arospeed, Eibach, H&R and was wondering which I should go for. I know that I have to upgrade my struts, my shop has some KYB gas struts for the ES right now, I just want to know if I should get him to try and find some Teins, or, if that is a goose chase, which brand should I go with then?

Lowering springs work (Tein, Eibach, Progress) But they will blow your stock struts pretty quickly.

Full Coilovers are definatly the best way to go. (Tein is the best, K-Sport and Nex are about the same) (they come with the strut)

Coilover sleaves are definatly bad.

Lowering springs are about $200-300 Canadian
Coilovers are about $650 - 1500 USD

If you blow your stock struts with lowering springs or coilover sleaves you are looking at $600ish to replace the strut assembly's (front only and just parts)

Search through US Lancer General on this forum for more info.

Well right now I have a chance to get a full set of KYB Gas struts for about 400, but the coilover system is not the most appealing to me. True, I can slam the ES if I want, but to me that would be a waste. To constantly ajust the height of my car isn't that appealing to me. I know that a 1-1.5" drop will give me a nice stance, that that would definately help getting 2nd looks next year when I put the 17's on. I just want to know if the S Tech springs come in my size, or if I would have to find another kit. And as for the coilover sleeves, I may be a budget rider, but that would be along the same lines as cutting the springs... LOL (I actually know of a guy who actually clamped his springs together.... I think it took a week for the things to go to hell...

Oh I just realised you have an ES, my bad...Ya go with lowering springs for sure. The Lancer ES lowering springs are a little bit different, although there are some great companies out there with them. I don't believe that the Tein, progress or the Eibach will fit the ES but I may be wrong. Search around the site you will find out everything.

Good to hear that you will not sacrafice quality!

best way to drop your car is just to cut the springs!

no seriously, as Danno said the BEST thing to do would be to get a set of TEIN SS dampers which replace the full setup, but if not then the TEIN s-techs are nice too. I think i have seen a bunch for sale in the private for sale - suspension section on this forum. try there first.

One thing, I doubt that the setups you talked about will fit... I have the 03 ES, and Tein doesn't make anything for it. The only shocks I have found are the KYB GR2's, and from the sounds of it, those are the only shocks that are proper fitment for me...
