I imagine so long as you have some faxed information from the lending institution upon payout and that that information was submitted to the US Customs people as part of all the paperwork, then US Customs would accept that as proof and deem the vehicle eligible for export.

correct...car must be 100% paid off, until it is, it is owned by the bank....and you won't be able to show that it is unless you have proof that it was...

ps....My deal/trade fell through, my guy flaked out .......still EVO-less

Was planning to do everything in one day but it seems I would need to payout the loan and then get the title to fax it to Customs and wait 72 hours. Guess its back to car hunting again.

When you have so many evos to pick out.. why would you want to find one with a lien?

I'm still considering selling mine.. lol

That would be me!

I picked up a 2006 Evo IX SE with 26,000 miles a week after the bumper laws changed. The car is currently having the engine built, mods in sig ... TTP package should arrive this week and be back on the road ASAP.

I'm located in Halifax, Nova Scotia and I purchased the car in Jacksonville, Florida and took the 2000 mile drive home to have an Evo. Best decision I've ever made!

The process to bring a car into Canada is certainly quite involving, and you don't want to screw anything up (or you could be stuck at the border for 3+ days) but if ANYONE has any questions I'd be more then happy to help; It was actually quite enjoyable as long as you don't mind lots of leg work to get yourself an Evo. There are quite a few fees, and all together my $25,000 USD purchase cost about $33,000 CDN all said and done I'd say. I will take a peak at the reciepts.

I had to deal with all of the paperwork, insurance, travel, costs, border crossings, federal inspection, a car with a lein, etc etc. Throw me a PM and I'll give you my cell number, I wouldn't mind walking any Evo fanatic through the stages to help you out.

As far as I know, I have one of only a few at best on the East Coast! The car is getting lots of looks, and it's certainly original and probobly always will be in Canada. Some will be imported, but most people won't go through the issues to get one here ... They aren't really a dime a dozen in the states, so in Canada I think we will be all set

Zach.

Hey I've got a couple of questions to ask. was wondering if you had to provide Lien release letter from the bank to US customs to release the car. And how where you able to get temp licence or in transit licence. I know for Florida they require you have insurance that is licenced in the State of Flordia for them to isuue you some sort of licence for you to drive back.

I believe it is impossible to get the Title if there is a lien on the car, therefore as long as you have the original title with you at the border crossing, there is no problem. When you send them the copies of the title they will run it to make sure there is no lien on the vehicle (by this time you should have the vehicle paid for, and signed over to you )

Hey Guy's I have had my 06 Evo 9 since last wednesday.. I love it... I'm the first in all of Quebec to have it plated. I pasted federal & provincal test... However on Saturday I took my friend out to show him that this car really moves.. well I started drifting it over 60miles/an hour and sorta lost it. I smashed it in a tree.. but it's not that bad.. the only problem is getting parts for example the Headlight is like $735 cad at a local dealer.. If anyone want's to take my word for it... GET TO KNOW THE CAR FIRST... My old car was a KIA RIO...lol

sad to hear, but when experimenting with cars i always do it in an empty and open parking lot first, its dangerous to push the car on public roads especially when you don't know what the limits are.
